Eligibility requirements:
1. Age 18 - 24
2. High diploma or GED
3. eligible to work in the U.S.
4. ability to pass drug screen and/or background check
5. valid driver's license & clean driving record
Classes meet twice a week on Mon. & Tues. 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm for 10 weeks...No cost, Free
Orientation & training begins Monday, July 1st at 5:00 pm
In person interviews required for acceptance into training
Training is in Tuscaloosa, Al.
Skilled Trades does not pay lodging expense.
The Jump Start program is an introduction to the skilled trades.
The training starts with an overview of all the trades, Electrical, Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, Carpentry.
You'll learn your career path to obtaining licenses and/or certifications and wages on a national scale in each trade.
You will have the opportunity to learn taking measurements, reading blueprints, employability skills, hand and power tools safe use and materials used on construction jobsites.
You can obtain certifications for OSHA 10 safety standards, 1st Aid/CPR/AED and Scissor Lift operation, Rough Terrain Forklift.
This training places a strong emphasis on safety in the workplace.
Upon satisfactory completion of this training, you will be eligible to be interviewed for employment with one or more of our participating contractors. If hired, you can enroll in the Apprenticeship Training Program.
