JOB SUMMARYSizer School seeks a part time custodian to join our Facilities Team. The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the building and grounds. The Custodian is a valued member of the staff and is responsible for assisting school administration in providing a healthy and safe environment for the education program at the school. Sizer School offers a small community with a positive working environment where each staff member is valued and respected.SIZER SCHOOLSizer is a free, public charter school located in Fitchburg, Massachusetts serving students in grades 7-12. Built in 2013, the state-of-the-art building located at 500 Rindge Road rests on 5 acres of land and consists of 60,000 square feet.Position Type: Part Time (12 months/20 hours per week)Work hours: 4 hours per day Monday –Friday starting 4:00 pm or laterSalary $20 - $21 Per HourMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES1.Clean all areas of the building according to the daily, weekly, monthly and annual schedule provided by the Director of Facilities or his Designee.2.Set-up for special events, assemblies and classrooms as well as staff schedules where applicable.3.Remove trash and recyclables throughout the building every day.4.Ensure that furniture in common areas is neat, organized and presentable for the start of the next school day.5.Remove student items left behind after the school day and place them in the lost and found containers.6.Clean, sanitize, and fully stock restrooms with paper towels, toilet paper and hand soap. Verify that all plumbing and electrical fixtures are in good working order.7.Provide notification of cleaning supplies/materials needed to the Director of Facilities or his designee.8.Verify that all building entrances, parking lots and exits have been cleared of any and all snow and ice during the winter months.9.Secure the building and turn off lights as necessary at the close of the day.10.Perform grounds maintenance as assigned by the Director of Facilities. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of a backpack blower, line trimmer, shovels and walk behind mowers and snow blowers. Duties also include the safe and competent operation of tractor-driven snow blower and spreader.11.Perform light plumbing, painting, carpentry, and maintenance tasks of building equipment and machinery.12.Maintain multiple flooring surfaces by operating carpet cleaner, auto scrubber and be able to strip and wax floors.13.Flex work schedule at times in order to perform major tasks or projects when school is not in session such as school vacations and summer recess.14.Check email daily and monitor the completion of work orders throughout each shift by using the Facilities Help Desk system.15.Be punctual and maintain a neat appearance; maintain a positive attitude and a willingness and ability to collaborate with staff.16.Adhere to the policies of the school at all times.17.Keep workspaces neat and orderly at all times.18.All other custodial and maintenance duties or needs as assigned by the Director of Facilities.
