Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers is Hiring an Environmental Projects Coordinator Near Milwaukee, WI

The Environmental Projects Coordinator will work with DEHCW staff, volunteers, and interns to accomplish this work.

Invasive species removal, tree and shrub planting, trash removal, and other duties as necessary.
Assist in planning and implementation, mentoring high school students, and leading various activities and lessons for the KinnickInternship (high school) Program.
Assist with leading Summer Camp and Family Workshop programs as needed,
Work with city-wide partners, including community members, to implement internship and other environmental programming.
Perform land stewardship activities at Lincoln Avenue Elementary School, Zablocki Elementary School, and SSCHC clinic(s).
Perform outreach to neighbors (door-to-door, social media, fliers, posters, tabling at events)
Assist in identifying and developing grant proposals for new project opportunities and report on project successes.
Participate in the Department’s public relations through media events, written publications, and oral presentations.
Document internship program and other projects.
Assist in planning and staffing land restoration volunteer events as needed.
Perform other departmental duties and responsibilities as needed and under the direction and supervision of the Director of Environmental Health and Community Wellness.
Comply with SSCHC TB Control Plan, including PPD testing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in the environmental field, land stewardship and/or land restoration preferred. If you have no previous experience, then possess and exhibit content knowledge and express interest in working in these fields.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; bilingual (English/Spanish or another language commonly spoken in the community we serve) communication skills preferred.
Experience working or leading programs with children and/or teens.
Strong understanding of urban environmental health issues or demonstrated ability to learn.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations and relate well to people of various ages and from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Available to facilitate some evening and weekend activities and events.
Experience and comfort using hand tools.
Ability to maintain a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, regular use of a car, current auto insurance and ability to travel throughout the Milwaukee area.
