United States Position Overview:
The Licensed Practical Nurse provides skilled technical nursing care topatients according to predefined standards and a plan of care established by aNurse Practitioner or Physician. Assumes other duties as assigned. The LicensedPractical Nurse provides care utilizing the MS Nurse Practice Act, the CDCGuidelines for Infection Control, and Singing River Health System Departmentsof Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment and Services. As such, thisperformance evaluation is based on these standards. Expectation is for all performed duties to bein accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies,accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for healthcare employees

Education:
Graduate from an approved school of nursing.
License:
Registered with the Mississippi Board of Nursing licensure for practicein the Licensed Practical Nurse expanded role.

Certification:

BCLS certification required completion within 6 months of hiring. Must maintain annual training requirement.
Experience:
Appropriate nursing practice/experience within the past three (3)years. Physical Demands. Work involvesregular requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and totravel to another facility within the SRHS service area. Work involves exertinga moderate amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwisemove objects, including the human body. Work involves using repetitive motions:substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers while operatingstandard office equipment such as computer keyboard, copier, and 10-key. Workinvolves being able to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levelswith or without correction; the ability to make fine discriminations in sound.Work requires close visual acuity andthe ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i.e. shiftgaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms/printed material that are closerto compare data at close vision.

Physical Demands:

Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirementsto move about the office, move about the facility, and to travel to anotherfacility within the SRHS service area. Work involves exerting an eligible amount of force frequently to lift,carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Employee is responsible for safely moving, liftingand handling all supplies, equipment and patients, with assistance, up to 350pounds. Expected to use safe lifting practices in all areas of job performanceand employees are responsible to request help whenever needed, regardless ofthe weight, using available assistance, i.e. lifting devices or additionalstaff.
Work involves using many physical motions in performing daily workactivities; subject to exposure of body fluids, sputum and tissues, which maycarry the hazard of infectious disease. Work involves using repetitive motions: substantial movements of thewrists, hands, and or fingers while operating standard office equipment such ascomputer keyboard.
Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sound at normalspeaking levels with or without correction; the ability to make finediscriminations in sound. Must be able to be active for extended periods without experiencingundue fatigue. Must be able to workschedules assigned with the understanding that changes may occur according tothe needs of the hospital for off days, shifts or weekends.

Mental Demands:

Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision makingabilities. Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciationskills to receive and give information in person and by telephone. Must demonstrate strong written and verbalcommunication skills. Must possessemotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels. Must demonstrate ability to work underpressure and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situationsis required. Must have the ability tomaintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHSand other organizations.
Special Demands:
Must have a valid driver license as job may require travelingthroughout the SRHS service area. Must have strong general computer skills.Basic knowledge and skill in using Microsoft Excel preferred.
