As a Technical Sales Representative, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining positive customer relationships with Lumber Dealers, Wall Panel Manufacturers, Framers, Truss and Component Manufacturers, and other users of Engineered Wood Systems software. This role will support our Columbus, OH and McKinney, TX branches.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING(% of Time)

As the Technical Sales Representative, you will deliver virtual and in-person manufacturing equipment product presentations and demonstrations. You will identify and support opportunities with independent travels and other Simpson Strong-Tie representatives in efforts to sell our cutting (EasyFrame) machinery. Proactively and effectively manage customer relationships and ease of use for products. (60%)

Act as liaison between customers and our product & development teams by serving as subject matter expert and communicating customer-submitted feedback, including enhancements and defects. Provide Education and Technical support to Customers. This requires deep product understanding, self-management, customer service mindset, and exceptional communication skills. (20%)

Maintain and continuously improve technical expertise and be a go-to expert in the areas of Lumber Dealer, Wall Panel Manufacturer, Framer & Truss operations to communicate and support the product development team in improving our equipment offering. (10%)

Identify opportunities to improve the support process to provide internal and external customers with a better experience. Work daily traveling in the field scheduling based on customer needs and providing representation for the Company at Industry trade associations and events. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or Construction Management.
  • 4 years' experience in building components (lumber, wall, truss & EWP) industry with an understanding of manufacturing equipment basics.
  • 2 years' experience in construction industry, building material or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and apply leadership strategies to positively impact sales and customer experience.
  • Adequate general knowledge of residential building codes and standards.
  • Analysis/Reasoning: Process oriented with deep analytical skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Communication: Ability to write in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience.
  • Teamwork: Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships.
  • Organization: The ability to arrange resources to get things done; can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal; uses resources effectively and efficiently; arranges information and files in a useful manner.

  • Computer/Software: Ability to utilize Microsoft Office suite and basic understanding of computer networking, along with hardware and software troubleshooting. Experience in Salesforce Service Cloud, JIRA/Confluence, LogMeIn Rescue, Cisco Finesse is highly desirable.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in both a professional office environment, customer sites and outdoor construction job sites. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printer/scanner, etc.The employee occasionally works around moving mechanical parts. Noise level may be loud at times.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

This job requires < 50% domestic travel.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, exempt position is in the Western US States, or open to remote.

RELOCATION

Relocation is not available for this position.

PAY

$70,000 - $97,400 / Year

* Posted pay range is based upon national average and may vary depending on geographical work location.
