Job Summary
The Director of Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning will use a Business Partner approach to working with Department Leadership to support the development of well-organized and efficient departments. The Director will provide Simmons Managers with Strategic partnership around organizational design, workforce planning and staffing /resource deployment.
The Director of Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning will lead the recruitment team in the development of proactive recruitment strategies and build quality and diverse candidate pipelines, convey a sense of urgency, demonstrate exceptional client service and ensure that positions are filled in a timely, cost-effective and compliant manner in keeping with the University's strategic goals.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources, the Director of Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning is responsible for the successful development and delivery of effective recruitment strategies and operations to cultivate and retain a talented and diverse workforce while delivering a positive and efficient candidate experience.
Recruiting Strategy & Key Initiatives
The Director of Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning develops and delivers best-in-class recruitment strategies in the acquisition of staff and faculty hires, including both on-site employees and national remote employees.
Develops strategic partnerships and relationships with external recruitment sources for proactive, short and mid-term recruitment of diverse talent for the institution
Develops recruiting initiatives through manager trainings, resource development, data-reporting and analytics and contributing to the design and implementation of an enhanced on-boarding process
Recruitment Process Oversight & Execution
Delivers professional consultative recruiting support to hiring managers, promoting diversity and equal opportunity at all times, while establishing proactive sourcing strategies to attract top talent.
Anticipates, identifies, proposes solutions and collaborates with Provost Office, General Council, and University wide business and department leads for possible challenges before they surface relative to national hiring compliance, and contract hiring models, pay rates and structures, on-boarding etc.
Conducts one-on-one and group training to hiring managers on recruitment process and employment practices
Collaborates and partners with department leaders to foster and promote internal mobility initiatives
Recruiting Operations & Reporting
Designs, develops and implements tools, processes and programs to support proactive and targeted recruitment and to ensure consistent evaluation of candidates as well as compliance with all regulatory requirements
Oversees delivery of day-to-day tactical recruitment activity and operations for on-campus and remote hires from requisition initiation to on-boarding
Manages and delivers recruitment reports and metrics, evaluating themes, generating insights and recommendations. Presents reports, trends, updates to leadership on a weekly basis
Identifies and drives technology automations, upgrades, engagements and membership to expand and reach to prospective employees, i.e., career fairs, chat rooms, blogs, LinkedIn, and other social media venues
Collaborates with Business Systems Analyst to implement enhancements in the recruiting module
Organizational Design/Workforce Planning
Collaborate with Department Leaders and stakeholders to identify gaps and create roadmaps for successful operating models
Provide clear and effective counsel to management in support of organizational design, key projects and improvements
Engage and drive projects and large-scale initiatives to achieve successful department outcomes
Provide guidance and input to department leaders to support career development and succession planning
Works with departments to align strategies and workforce plans with focus on budget allocations/constraints
Identifies department needs and concerns and the related organizational and cultural implications
Identifies way to improve operational efficiencies
Support and contribute to building a strengths-based culture with other campus partners
Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree required or relative experience in Human Resources/Talent Acquisition experience
Five plus years of direct related experience required
Supervisory experience a plus
Demonstrated ability in developing HR strategies, policies, and practices in a HR Business partner role or equivalent
Effective leadership skills to guide, advise and create methods to help maximize employee efficiencies
Proven experience in providing quality candidates at all levels of the organization with a focus on sustained pipeline development and sourcing passive candidates;
Excellent time management, decision-making, presentation, organization, and communication skills (both oral and written);
Deep knowledge of human resources processes and systems, human resources legal compliance and the use of social media to support recruiting operations and communications;
Fluency in web-based recruiting tools, including social media and job boards, and applicant tracking systems (experience with Workday Recruiting preferred);
Effective interpersonal, facilitation and team building skills;
Strong proficiency with MS office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
Must be self-directed and be deadline and results oriented;
Demonstrated exceptional skills in follow-through, attention to detail and the ability to multitask required.
This is a full- time position eligible for a hybrid schedule- up to two days remote
