The Culinary Department at Silver Maples of Chelsea Retirement Community is looking for a Full Time Prep/Line Cook who can prepare food according to the menu and standardized recipes in a safe, efficient and sanitary manner. This candidate should be able to prepare food that is ready for service at a specified time observing proper food handling and cleaning techniques. Will be able to suggest menu or recipe changes to ensure items are used in a timely manager. This candidate will assist Executive and Sous Chef as needed with assigned duties. Able and willing to work evenings & weekends.

•Able to follow recipes and menus
•Must possess good reading and verbal communication skills.
•Interested in learning and improving skills
•Basic Computer Skills needed
•High school Diploma
Typcial Physical Demands

• Standing and/or walking for long periods of time as well as bending and stooping. Able to lift/carry medium weight (up to 5o pounds) and push/pull medium weight (up to 90 pounds). Motor coordination and manual dexterity are necessary to prepare food and operate food service equipment, full range of mobility and motion.
• Corrected vision and hearing, color discrimination, depth perception and sense of touch.
• Must be able to operate power-driven equipment and slicing/cutting equipment.
• Must be able to tolerate working in heat above 90°F and below 40°F for substantial periods of time, i.e. entering freezers, working near stoves, ovens, etc... Must be able to work with skin irritants and chemicals as used in cleaning and ware washing procedures.
