Silver Fork Lodge & Restaurant is Hiring a Lead line cook Near Brighton, UT

We are located a beautiful, 15 minute drive (11 miles) from the Salt Lake Valley in the heart of Big Cottonwood Canyon in Brighton, Utah.

We are 1 mile from Solitude Mountain Resort and 3 miles to Brighton Ski Resort. If you love the mountains you will love to work here! We have a great team and a mountain town vibe but with all the advantages of being open year round for added job security!

Work in the mountains and join our fun team! Silver Fork Lodge & Restaurant is hiring a Lead Line Cook!

The successful candidate will have experience in a high volume kitchen. Must be available nights, weekends and holidays. Exact shift hours will vary based on season and business needs.

As part of our team, you can even get a ski pass to Brighton Ski Resort for $300 off (available to full time employees after 90 day probationary period).

Prep Cook Job Duties :

  • Assist Chef with maintaining line; food quality and specs, temping, food safety and health code, and cleanliness
  • Follow prep list created by Chef / Kitchen Managers.
  • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.
  • Undertake basic cooking duties such as parboiling food, reducing sauces, etc.
  • Properly date, cool, temp, and organize food products in accordance with the Utah
  • Maintain total all kitchen Health Department standards.
  • Know all dishes on menu; such as salads, appetizers, entrees to specification.
  • Organize kitchen stock and ingredients. Ensure a first-in, first-out food rotation system.
  • Ensure food preparation and presentation maintain quality, safety, and restaurant standards.
  • Verify food storage units are consistently in good working order; notify kitchen manager when items are (broken) discarded and in need of new ones.
  • Keep station cleaned throughout shift, maintain sanitizer bucket, participate in deep cleaning kitchen areas as needed, and clean station and remove trash at end of shift.
  • Cleaning dishes as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

3 year minimum experience as a cook

  • 1 year minimum as line cook
  • Training from a culinary school will be an asset
  • Extensive knowledge of food and kitchen safety rules
  • Extensive knowledge with kitchen equipment
  • Know your cooking methods; i.e. boil vs braise vs poach;
  • Understanding the importance of Mise en place
  • Understanding Kitchen communication skills
  • Very good physical condition and endurance
  • Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
  • A team player
  • High school diploma or equivalent is desirable
