RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Builds a positive relationship with students based on trust, caring, unconditional regard and individual strengths and needs

• Administers monthly classroom instruction for social-emotional growth and college and career readiness

• Counsel at-risk students whose behavior, emotional, mental and academic progress need assistance and support in an individual and/or small group setting

• Consult with teachers, parents, and other school personnel to determine causes of problems such as truancy and misbehavior, and to implement solutions

• Serve as a liaison between students, homes, schools, family services, child guidance clinics to address students’ individual needs

• Collaborates with local community mental health providers

• Keeps current on methods and procedures concerning working with students having social and emotional needs

• Possesses the skills to understand and communicate class choices for student schedules, build student schedules using school technology, and work with staff to ensure schedules are compliant with individual needs

• Creates and maintains safety plans for students in crisis

• Maintains regular attendance

• Other duties as assigned by the school Principal

LICENSE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Counseling Degree: preferred minimum of 3 years of experience in counseling children.

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree

• Operational knowledge of technology

• Possess strong oral and written communication skills

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
