Laundry Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS: The Laundry Assistant works under the direction and supervising of the Housekeeping Supervisor (or the Assistant Housekeeping Supervisor if the Supervisor is away from the facility). The Laundry Assistant is primarily responsible for guaranteeing that the clothes and linens, etc. of our residents are clean and returned to the proper owner once they have been washed, folded, etc. Must perform simple repetitive tasks willingly, some involving unpleasant conditions. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Keep a neat appearance, following dress code as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Be pleasant and courteous at all times.

HOURS: 7a3p or 8a4p

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Good physical and mental health required. Sits, stands, walks, stoops, turns, reaches, bends, lifts heavy objects all day/shift.
• Manuel dexterity needed for handling equipment.
• Must possess sight/hearing senses (or use prosthetics) to meet job requirements.
• May be required to lift equipment or supplies.
• Must be able to speak English in an understandable manner.

MAJOR DUTIES (include but are not limited to):

1. Pick-up linen barrels off halls in a timely fashion.
2. Sort, wash, dry and fold linen, bedding and residents’ personal clothes.
3. Distribute clean clothes and linen.
4. Maintain linen closets and residents’ personal clothes in an orderly fashion.
5. Conserve supplies and report to Housekeeping Supervisor of the need to order additional supplies.
6. Mark residents’ clothes if necessary (although the resident’s family is primarily responsible).
7. Maintain all assigned areas in a clean and odor-free condition.
8. Clean lint filters.
9. All other duties as deemed necessary by the Housekeeping Supervisor, Administrator and/or their designee.
