This contract is working with the Department of Veterans Affairs and focuses on modernizing and improving the GI Bill claims processing system, enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of education claims processing for veterans, service members, and their dependents.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Configuration Management (CM) Plan, policies, and procedures, incorporating best practices across teams.
• Execute CM activities throughout the project lifecycle, including development, migration, deployment, and security.
• Create and manage CM repositories in collaboration with the DevSecOps team.
• Establish and promote product releases (baselines) following established build and deployment processes.
• Manage transitions from the development team to operations effectively.
• Collaborate with Development Leads to track code changes and ensure robust version control.
• Conduct Post Implementation Reviews (PIRs) across lower and production environments to evaluate and ensure configuration consistency.
• Facilitate daily CM audits to maintain system integrity and compliance.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

• Experience managing configuration changes in Git.
• Proficient with NPM, Maven, and other similar package management tools.
• Strong understanding of branching and versioning strategies applicable to Java, JavaScript, and similar technologies.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience with version and configuration management tools including GitHub, Jenkins, Jira, Maven, AWS, Dynatrace, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Demonstrated experience supporting applications in a cloud environment and managing microservice architectures in complex projects.

Certifications

• Relevant certifications in software architecture, configuration management, or DevSecOps are advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge in continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
• Prior experience in a government or military project environment is a plus.
