Job Description
Commercial Lines Account Manager
Reports to: Director of Commercial Lines
Status: Exempt
Job Summary: The Commercial Lines Account Manager acts as the primary contact to the clients, carriers and producers for service needs. They are responsible to perform the primary responsibilities to the quality and service standards developed by the agency, with the goal of growing the assigned book of business and maintaining relationships with existing clients.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provides support to Producer(s) specifically in analyzing client needs and reviewing coverage forms.
Completes applications in coordination with Producer(s); submits applications to the appropriate carriers. Follows up to ensure timely receipt of quotes and policies.
Prepares pre-renewal summaries of insurance, including schedules for the producer presentation to client.
Prepares client-ready proposals and delivers to producer.
Generates invoices for client delivery.
Orders binders, certificates, auto ID cards, policies, endorsements and other related items; verifies their accuracy; forwards them to client with appropriate correspondence.
Review client contracts, if applicable, and endorse policies to meet requirements; assist in issuing certificates in accordance with client’s contracts.
Processes renewals in coordination with Producer(s), according to agency procedures and timelines.
Set-up certificate template and update Sihle Access.
Reviews audits of policies; verifies accuracy and facilitates corrections with producer.
Verifies policy and policy change information, facilitating corrections when necessary.
Processes incoming mail, email, fax and phone requests, responding promptly and appropriately.
Determines reasons for cancellations; acts to save accounts; notifies Producer(s). If appropriate, pursue reinstatement with carrier.
Document all activity, phone calls, emails and correspondence in EPIC, following agency-established EPIC workflows precisely, with no variations/work-arounds.
Assists clients in submitting first report of claims; facilitates prompt response from Claims Manager.
Daily follow-up on un-routed attachments, open activities, and other EPIC tasks to stay current; goal is zero backlog.
Assisting with duties for co-workers who are absent, including issuing certificates, when needed or occasional help with mail, reception, or other areas, as needed.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Management.
Personal and Organizational:
Sets priorities and manages work flow to ensure efficient, timely and accurate processing of transactions and other responsibilities. Answer phone calls/messages and emails promptly.
Maintains a cordial and professional relationship with clients, co-workers, carriers, vendors, Producer(s) and other business contacts with a strong service focus; professional appearance.
Keeps informed regarding industry information, new product information, legislation, coverages, and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance.
Interacts with others effectively by utilizing superior communication skills to achieve the business goals of the agency.
Performs thorough and accurate work; attention to detail.
Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Remains calm under pressure.
Follow all guidelines in the Employee Handbook.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
High school graduate; college preferred (bachelor’s degree).
Minimum of 5 years agency or other relevant insurance experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Florida Property and Casualty license 2-20 preferred.
Knowledge of insurance products and their application to business.
Knowledge of insurance markets.
Knowledge of insurance rating and underwriting procedures.
Familiarity with computer programs, including Word and Excel.
Maintenance of license, by completing the State’s required number of continuing education credits to keep license in good standing.
Ability to work in a high pressure, fast-paced environment with significant and frequent interruption.
