Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity is Hiring a Finance Director Near Richmond, VA

Role Description

As the Finance Director, you’ll get to manage and oversee the entire accounting and finance functions of our organization and its 17 affiliated entities. You and your team will work to provide accurate, timely and reliable financial statements, management reports, cash projections and budget data for internal and external stakeholders. When the Finance Director does their job well, the finance staff are well managed and collaborating throughout the staff, every other department feels well informed and educated on how to manage their own finances and our organization can grow and thrive with support of the entire staff. Our impact as an organization depends on a foundation of sound financial practice and your role as a Finance Director is paramount to achieving that foundation.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and accurate financial statements within 45 days of quarter end and within 90 days of year end with narratives capable of directing sound business decisions
  • Present statements internally to staff and management on quarterly basis
  • Monitor financial controls and auditing standards to ensure maximum utilization of limited financial resources with approved budgets
  • Collaborate with the CEO, managing directors and department heads to create the annual operating budget and long-term financial plans to advance the strategic plans of the business
  • Manage and complete the audit within bank covenants
  • Manage cash for the entities to maximize returns while ensuring adequate financial reserves to satisfy operating expenses and advance strategic objectives
  • Lead and manage the accounting team
  • Act as committee liaison for the inter-company Finance Committee, Investment Committee, Chapter Finance and Compliance Committee and SENH Lending Committee

Experience Requirements

  • 5 years or more of experience in the finance or accounting fields
  • Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles
  • Former roles having led a team and managed direct reports
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field
  • Background working in a multi-company environment
  • Working knowledge of property management software
  • Experience with Financial Edge and Salesforce

Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp) was founded on November 1, 1901 at the University of Richmond. Since that date, SigEp has grown to become one of the largest college fraternities in the country.
