Sierra Space-based in Louisville, CO with operations in Madison, WI, Durham, NC, Huntsville, AL, Houston, TX, and Kennedy Space Center, FL-designs and manufactures the Dream Chaser spaceplane and other advanced spacecraft, commercial space destinations, satellites, propulsion and environmental systems, spacecraft subsystems and components for the U.S. government (including NASA), commercial customers, and international organizations.

About The Role

As Sr Director, Learning & Organizational Development, you will support the development and implementation of internal strategies, policies, procedures, processes, and programs in all aspects of Human Resources. You will collaborate cross-functionally to establishing human resource strategies and practices to meet our specific business objectives surrounding growth and human capital needs. You will execute meaningful HR goals, initiatives, data analytics, and key performance indicators in order to provide partnership and insight to our business leaders, measure progress, and identify areas of opportunity and growth. You will promote a culture of compliance, integrity, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity across HR Teams and guide the activities of the company in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Director of Learning and Organizational Development at Sierra Space is responsible for advancing the talent mission through the buildout of Sierra Space University, our end-to-end platform for all technical, functional and enterprise learning and development. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing all comprehensive learning and development programs across the enterprise that support the professional growth and skill development of employees. Additionally, this role will architect and build a comprehensive management and leadership development strategy focused on building a world-class cadre and pipeline of managers and leaders. Ultimately, this position plays a critical role in fostering a culture of continuous learning, enhancing employee performance, and driving organizational success. The Senior Director of Learning and Development collaborates with leaders across the organization to identify learning needs, develop training strategies, and deliver impactful learning experiences.

Additionally, the Senior Director of Learning and Organizational Development drives organizational performance and effectiveness through the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and enterprise-wide programs and processes, including performance management, talent/succession planning, reward & recognition, and engagement. This position plays a critical role in shaping the company's culture, optimizing processes, and enhancing employee engagement and productivity. This role collaborates with leaders across the organization to identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions that drive business success.

This role drives effective use of technology, data, metrics and reporting across all areas.

The Senior Director of Learning and Organizational Development will serve as a key member of the Sierra Space Human Resources team and collaborate closely with the CEO, CPO and all members of the Executive Leadership team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.

  • Proven experience in learning and development, instructional design, organizational development or a related field.

  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and training delivery techniques.

  • Strong knowledge of organizational development theories, methodologies, and best practices.

  • Experience in designing and delivering a variety of training programs, including leadership development, technical skills, and soft skills.

  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and other learning technologies.

  • Excellent leadership and influencing skills.

  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Experience in change management and driving organizational change.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.

  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Typically 12-15 years of relevant Leadership experience; 10 years demonstrated experience in Human Resources

  • Active SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR/GPHR Certification

  • Skills in assessing external competition by gathering data from multiple, often disparate, qualitative and quantitative sources and synthesizing it into meaningful reports and presentations

  • Possess leadership acumen to perform as a true strategic partner to top company executives; ability to establish presence and demeanor to interface and work collaboratively with leaders and skill to make significant contributions on key leadership committees

  • Experience with mergers, acquisitions, and integration

  • Demonstrated passion for ideation and innovation, as well as motivating others to act by creating a shared sense of vision or purpose.

  • Proven long-term and strategic perspective that extends beyond the immediate initiatives; visualizes and articulates a clear direction

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense (Civilian), NASA/Civil or commercial space and/or US Military, with an understanding of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets

Estimated Starting Salary Range:

$214,015.40 - $321,023.10

Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
