POSITION SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Manager owns the recruitment and employment function with oversight and tactical responsibilities for human resources operations. Ability to work in fast-growing company and is comfortable with ambiguity.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Recruitment and Employment

  • Collaborates with management to develop annual labor requirements and updates as needed.
  • Ensures effective recruiting and employment procedures and processes to meet company goals.
  • Recruits, interviews, tests, and selects employees to fill vacant positions.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Conducts wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rate.
  • Administers salary administration program to ensure compliance and equity within organization.
  • Prepares reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover.
  • Analyzes trends of each department in turnover, hiring, promotions, separations, and employee complaints to determine support or action needed to adjust unfavorable trends.
HR Operations
  • Supervises the preparation of employee separation notices and related documentation, and completion of exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  • Coordinates unemployment insurance claims, workers’ compensation insurance benefits, and COBRA administration.
  • Keeps records of benefits plans participation such as insurance and pension plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
  • Administers benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
  • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Contract with outside suppliers to provide employee services as may be required.
  • Provides oversight and supervises HR Generalist to research and prepare reports to governmental entities.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities for HR team including include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Work with management and HR Generalist to make sure that insurance is renewed in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with broker and supervises HR Generalist to complete annual renewal process.
  • Investigates accidents and prepares reports for insurance carrier.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent experience required.
  • 7 – 10 years of experience in administering human resource policies and procedures.
  • Excellent customer service skills and able to use tact and good judgment in contacts with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems using pre-established guidelines to deal with situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Strong facility in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Access, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Ability to effectively present information in writing and respond to questions from employees and management.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Highly organized and able to work independently.
  • Ability to perform at the highest level in a fast-paced environment.
