Job Summary

The CAD Designer supports the satellite production team. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, a can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. The individual is expected to work collaboratively with mechanical engineers. This requires working on-site at the office in Cape Canaveral, FL. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produce drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope.
  • Support preparation of mechanical equipment.
  • Assure quality of Mechanical deliverables independently.
  • Produce drawings and documentation.
  • Updates project schedule and monitors work package cost.
  • Provides input to designs as required.

Required Education and Experience:

  • AA/AS degree or certification in an engineering or drafting/design with 2 years’ experience.
  • Work with engineering team in developing concepts and communicating requirements to cross functional teams.
  • Proficient in CAD Systems Solid works
  • Ability to create 2D drawings of electrical circuits, machined parts, wiring diagrams and schematics from interpreting draft layouts, sketches, or other sources.
  • Release CAD and drawings for product kick off.
  • Experience in creating and presenting Technical Reports utilizing MS Office Products (PowerPoint, Excel, MS Word, etc.)
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering design and development concepts
  • Ability to showcase functionality and design through portfolio.
  • Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally 
  • Knowledge and understanding of GD&T

Physical Requirements 

  • Stationary Work – occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds of force to transport objects, remaining mostly stationary, sometimes requiring moving about the work center on concrete surfaces
  • Computer Work – daily use of laptop, computer monitor screen, keyboard, and mouse, sometimes utilizing a headset with microphone & speakers. 

Travel Requirement

Able to travel <10% of the time. 

Shift/Schedule
 This position is for the day shift generally working within the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm.
