Since our founding in 1895 in Marin County as an orphanage – and through subsequent years as Sunny Hills Services – Side By Side has been at the forefront of best practices in child welfare, working with the most vulnerable youth in our community. Today, Side By Side operates in four counties – Marin, Alameda, Sonoma, and Napa – across the Bay Area, reaching nearly 2,000 children, young adults, and family members per year with much-needed services related to behavioral and mental health, early intervention in schools, LGBTQIA support, transitional housing for foster youth, and special education.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Irene M. Hunt School (Hunt School) is a nonpublic, K - 12 day school that provides a therapeutic environment where students develop the capability to regulate their behavior, maintain focus and resilience, and form healthy, trusting relationships – all foundational elements for lifelong learning. With our committed support, students address challenges and build on their core strengths, with the goal of ultimately returning to their neighborhood public school setting equipped with the skills to thrive socially and academically.
We supplement our comprehensive state-adopted curriculum with a wide range of enrichment for students, including exposure to music and theater. In addition to the school-wide positive behavior program and customized student support plans, students receive personalized mental health treatment and other specialized services according to their individualized education plans.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The 1:1 Aide supports the teacher and classroom teams and provides direct student support through the implementation of the given academic/positive behavioral intervention program designed by classroom teams/school personnel. TA is responsible for implementing student lessons, behavior management, intervening in crisis situations, and liaison with other program staff.
COMPENSATION
This position is part-time at 32.5 hours/week and an hourly rate of pay between $22.00 AND $28.00 based on
education and years of experience.

Benefits outlined below are for employees working 30 hours a week. Benefits for part-time employees are calculated based on number of hours worked.

Note: The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has issued new requirements for health care and congregant care facilities to decrease the risk of COVID-19 outbreaks. Based on the CDPH public health mandate, all candidates for positions at Side by Side must provide proof of vaccination. Side by Side will consider applicants with ADA and Title VII exemptions on a case-by-case basis.

Today, Side by Side operates in four counties Marin, Alameda, Sonoma, and Napa across the Bay Area, reaching nearly 2,000 children, young adults, and family members per year with much-needed services related to behavioral and mental health, early intervention, LGBTQ, substance abuse, therapeutic housing, special education, and youth justice.
