DescriptionShutterfly, Inc., is seeking a Performance & Growth Marketing leader who can drive new customer growth and customer engagement/retention across the consumer brands and relentlessly optimize and innovate. This is a ‘builder’ position and a key member of the marketing leadership team, reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer. The VP, Performance & Growth Marketing will manage the Performance Marketing teams for the Shutterfly, Snapfish, and Spoonflower brands. You will build, lead and mentor your team across the following channels: SEM, SEO, Display/Online Media, Affiliates, Paid Social, and Mobile App digital marketing, to support the company’s business objectives and drive overall customer acquisition. You will work across the Performance marketing channels to drive channel and campaign optimization and performance as well as continue to innovate across the channels.

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing and leading the execution of customer acquisition strategies for cost effectively driving the broad adoption of products and services across the Shutterfly, Inc., family of brands
  • Leading a team of marketing professionals responsible for multiple channels across internet marketing, including SEM, SEO, Display/Online Media, Affiliates, Paid Social, and Mobile App
  • Focusing on experimentation, innovation and a test-and-learn agenda, including growth hacking projects to fast prototype new approaches to customer acquisition
  • Owning and justifying a multimillion-dollar budget across performance and growth marketing, with the opportunity to redefine spend across the media mix, and explain the rationale/progress up to Executive team and PE ownership
  • Helping to establish program KPIs and driving execution to achieve quarterly revenue and customer goals to support overall company growth targets; creates clear accountability cross-metrics
  • Owning key metrics, including the use of Shutterfly’s proprietary multi-touch attribution model to optimize across channels
  • Defining a Performance Marketing roadmap to enable cross-channel approach bringing strong, actionable insights
  • Driving ongoing improvements and scaling through data analysis and a deeper understanding of customer segments
  • Implementing tools and processes that will help the team to deliver a stronger performance, including working with the Product Management and Technical teams to develop platforms and tools to enable channel and program development
  • Developing long-term, multi-quarter, and annual plans to create programs and the necessary infrastructure to grow the business
  • Managing work across internal teams, external vendors, and agency partners
  • Creating, guiding, and managing channel reporting and on partnership with the Data & Analytics team
  • Managing a large marketing budget, including a significant majority of the marketing working dollars for the company
  • Working with the Analytics team to measure and test channel and program impact and develop reporting to represent channel and program performance
  • Providing leadership and mentorship for a team of marketing professionals, including growing the team and hiring best of breed marketers
KEY CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
  • Team builder and inspiring leader with consummate collaboration and engagement management skills
  • Ability to get into the detail when required, with a startup and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Experience in working with Product and Engineering teams to develop platforms and tools
  • Experience in working with Analytics teams on measurement, reporting, and testing, including the use of sophisticated multi-touch attribution and media mix modeling models
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, and excellent presentation skills
  • Highly knowledgeable in internet and social marketing channels, emerging technologies, and overall marketing strategy to include partnerships and affiliates
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Creativity and lateral thinking to find new approaches and to drive new, innovative, and compelling programs and ideas
  • Strong relationship management, collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills (high EQ and effective influencer); driven and ambitious
  • Expertise in segmentation and targeting best practices
  • Commitment to delivering positive ROI programs and using objective criteria in decision-making
  • Strong insights and judgment to make sound decisions when complete data is not available

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
  • 15 years of marketing and business experience, with 10 years performance-based marketing
  • Proven experience with the digital marketing channels listed above
  • Excellent business judgment and strategic thinking
  • Strong track record of building and leading effective teams
  • Experience managing digital marketing activities and knowledge of industry best practices, key agencies, and service providers
  • Strong analytical thinking skills, ability to manage significant budgets and drive a disciplined approach to measuring the ROI of marketing investments
  • Comfortable interacting with executive management across a broad range of marketing and business topics
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and thrives in a company experiencing significant growth
