Job Overview

Title: Advanced Practice Provider (APP)

Department: Medical Staff

Location: Portland, OR

Hours: Per Diem

Schedule: 1 to 2 days per week

Job Summary:

Shriners Hospitals for Children – Portland is seeking an on-call Advance Practice Provider (APP) [Physician Assistant (PA-C), Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)]. The provider will assist in management of pediatric patients with a wide range of orthopedic conditions in the inpatient setting.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct care to patients under the direction of the Chief of Staff and other attending physicians
• Enter post-op orders
• Enter perioperative documentation
• Manage post-op patients on the Inpatient Unit
• Prescribe medications pursuant to the Oregon laws and regulations under the direction of supervising physician

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Current Physician Assistant, PNP or FNP licensure
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
• PALS required within 6 months of employment
• Experience in managing pediatric patients in the inpatient settings is preferred.
• Teaching and training skills, and demonstrated ability to provide age-appropriate direct patient care is required
• Proficient computer skills with experience with Cerner EHR preferred
