We are dedicated to our mission, values, and strategic commitments!We are interested in candidates who are invested in the achievement, equity, and access of all learners in and beyond the classroom.Candidates with diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, religious, class, and/or gender background and experiences are encouraged to apply.Job Responsibilities: Supports the coordination of career exploration opportunities including internships, job shadowing, mentorship, Capstone projects, and postsecondary degrees and/or certificates, apprenticeships, or employment for all students in Grades 9-12. Develops and maintains a system for work/career-based learning programs that includes working with School Counseling to assign students credit for these experiences and outside/proficiency-based opportunities.Actively facilitates communication to successfully engage students, faculty, families, community business partners, and higher education institutions.
Engages all students in the development of essential skills, knowledge, and opportunities necessary for college and career readiness. Develops and maintains partnerships with business and community members;solicit and recruit participation of new partners, including alumni and diverse groups.Promotes, organizes, implements, and evaluates career-based experiences and other related duties for all students in Grades 9-12. This includes the coordination and supervision of summer and vacation week internships and job shadowing opportunities for students. Contributes to SHS efforts to expand and develop early college programming between and among local colleges and universities.
May provide information and experiences for students focused on work-ready life skills including resume development, negotiation, cover letter writing, interview skills, business etiquette, etc.Works with the Director of School Counseling to develop and implement curriculum that will prepare all students for job application processes.In collaboration with the SHS School Counseling Department, develops, plans, coordinates, and assists in the implementation of career initiatives such as Career Fairs, Job Shadow Days, Guest Speaker opportunities and engagement, and other careerreadiness initiatives. These initiatives may take place at different grade spans (i.e., high school, middle school, etc.)Develops relationships, partner programs, and articulation agreements with local community colleges and post-secondary institutions and programs to support working students.Supports students in learning about sound financial choices when making decisions regarding next steps about college and/or career preparednessRepresents Shrewsbury Public Schools as an active participant on local, regional and state education and business committees including attendance at Blackstone Valley HUB for Workforce Development, Corridor 9/495 Regional Chamber of Commerce workshops and programs, etc.Develops marketing materials, brochures, presentations, and documentation for various programs including business and education partnerships. Coordinates data collection relevant to student experiences, especially Grades 9-12 and post-high school. Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated experience developing programs and/or leading initiatives.
This position requires a high level of innovation and entrepreneurial spirit. Skill in computer operations and use of programs involving word processing, Excel, Power Point, etc. Self-directed and goal-oriented. Proficient organizational and assessment skills.Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with students, staff, families, and community partners.
Attention to detail and follow through.Experience working with young people and/or employment and training programs.Effective communication skills require frequent contact with members of the public,including public and private sector employers. Prior program development experience.Salary and reporting details: This full-time year-round role reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Community Partnerships & Well-being, with the Principal of Shrewsbury High School as the secondary. Salary will be up to $75,000 per year. Benefits: health insurance, life/dental/vision, 15 vacation days annually, 3 personal days, 13 holidays, 15 sick days (accrue from year to year).
