Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Mechanical Engineer II located in Long Beach, CA and surrounding areas. This challenging position will provide an excellent growth opportunity while improving the infrastructure of the city.

Southwest Division

Shimmick’s Southwest Division, headquartered in Irvine, California, focuses on large public owners in Southern California, across water resources, water treatment, transportation, and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $828 million Gerald Desmond Bridge, the first cable-stayed vehicular bridge in California.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
• Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
• Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
• Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
• Identifies discrepancies in results.
• Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or related field 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with process piping and equipment, plumbing and hvac. 
• Proficient in solidworks and autocad
