Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Electrical Engineer II based out of San Diego, CA. This challenging position will provide an excellent growth opportunity while improving the infrastructure of the city.

Electrical Division

Since the early 1990s, Shimmick has been self-performing mechanical, electrical and plumbing scopes for civil projects. Shimmick offers MEP expertise in transit, water/wastewater, alternative energy, power generation and transmission civil work, as well as commercial building projects. This division’s ability to self-perform offers additional value to clients and enables better control of cost and schedule for projects with major MEP scopes. The MEP division serves clients which include municipalities, water districts, sanitation districts, transit agencies, private developers, DOTs, and USACE.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
• Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
• Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
• Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
• Identifies discrepancies in results.
• Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or related field 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in heavy civil construction projects
• Concrete structures, MSE Walls, Rail, Transit, and/or Wastewater project experience
• Ability to understand P&ID’s, Control Schematics, Electrical single-line drawings, and system (I&C, Fire Alarm, HVAC Control, Security) drawings.

The salary range for this position is between $95,000.00 - $120,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.

These benefits are available to all employees working more than 20 hours per week. Employees working less than 20 hours per week are eligible for medical, dental and vision coverage as well as EAP services.
