  • Continuously maintain ongoing awareness and knowledge of the newest forth-coming trends & looks with regards to color development for all focus markets served by Global Color Design Center, GCDC, Color Stylist.
    • Color Stylist will actively research and monitor thru fieldtrips, internet research, industry magazines and periodicals the evolving looks, colors and techniques used for color design for all focus markets served by GCDC Color Stylist. 
  • Design and create effective color systems for current and target customers. Finish systems are to be proven factory friendly.
    • Color Stylist will create and design sophisticated industry-leading colors, looks and finish systems for domestic and global target and current customers.
  • Demonstrate and assist Sherwin-Williams, SW, customers with solving color and finishing problems with effective, innovative methods.
    • Color Stylist will develop and engineer color systems that will meet and improve SW customer requirements for improving productively, cost control, and reproducibility.
    • Color Stylist will consolidate and reduce the number of finish steps and processes when called upon by target or current SW customers. Recommended process will not sacrifice overall quality of appearance and marketability of product. 
  • Assist with directly training SW customers and designated SW personnel in all areas of finish executions and color matching and color development, at GCDC as well as other possible locations. 
  • Design and engineer finishing systems using various required technologies and SW products to achieve the desired quality and look required by SW current and target customers in all GCDC serviced focus markets.
    • Color Stylist will experiment, as required, to create new cutting-edge colors and finish systems for all focus markets using new technologies and products to better serve SW customers. 
  • Color Stylist is to be responsible for preparing and finishing Residential Furniture Market samples for SW customers for all major furniture as is required.
  • In preparation for two annual tradeshows, High Point International and Las Vegas Furniture, the Color Stylist will provide professional, on-going touch- up service to all SW Furniture customers
  • Color Stylist will have the responsibility to improve and upgrade SW customers inline colors and finish systems to assist with maintaining and increasing market share as is requested. 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

FORMAL EDUCATION: 

Required:

  •  High School education

Preferred:

  •  Bachelor’s Degree

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • 5-8 years of wood industry experience.
  • 5-8 years of experience in finish executions, color matching and color development.
  • Must have good color perception and be able to tint materials and products effectively while being involved directly with color critical projects.
  • 5-8 years of experience using a handheld sprayer and must have the ability and skill to spray panels, furniture samples, etc. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.
  • Must be able to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis. 
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds. 
  • Must be able to climb and descend stairs. 
  • Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing. 
  • May work indoors and outdoors as needed. Exposure to heat up to 120 degrees and cold to 0 degrees. 
  • May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required. 
  • May work in areas where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present. 
  • May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt. 
  • Work surfaces may include concrete. 
  • Employee must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and be able to wear a respirator as required. 
  • Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone. 
  • Some travel to other locations, meetings and/or seminars is required.
  • Other: Must be able to use hand truck and forklift upon completion of training.

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  •  Must be able to work all scheduled hours
  •  Overnight travel will be required at times
