Sheraton BWI is Hiring a Director of Housekeeping Near Linthicum Heights, MD

Sheraton BWI, one of Vista Property Management’s portfolio of hotels, is looking for local candidates with prior Hotel Director of Housekeeping experience to perform duties in the Housekeeping Department and support the operations of the hotel.

Director of Housekeeping candidates are required to possess exemplary hotel knowledge, interpersonal skills, and discipline-specific technical expertise. Those with determination and a desire to face unique and challenging projects will flourish in this role.

A Director of Housekeeping is expected to lead, supervise, and direct the housekeeping operations of the hotel. They are responsible for promoting, strengthening and reinforcing the respective company culture through all employee and customer interactions.

At all times, the Director of Housekeeping is expected to ensure a safe, secure, and comfortable environment is provided for all guests, visitors, and employees. All efforts should be geared to increase profitability and asset value, while improving the customer experience and increasing employee engagement.

JOB SUMMARY/TASKS

  • Enhances company posture on EEO/ADA by making good faith effort to recruit, select, develop and retain protected class employees.
  • Coordinate with the Front Office to review occupancy levels and staff labor accordingly.
  • Evaluates safe work practices in job performance reviews.
  • Maintains the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc. and the appearance of Housekeeping areas, and performs regular inspections of resident areas and rooms for sanitation,order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.
  • Performs regular inspections of resident, ancillary, and common areas for sanitation, order, safety, and comfortable environment.
  • Assures that Housekeeping staff follows established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies at all times.
  • Maintain a room history journal-detailing inventory, major maintenance and repairs, renovations and general cleaning.
  • Inspects storage rooms, utility and janitorial closet, etc., for upkeep and supply control.
  • Requisitions all Housekeeping supplies and equipment and maintains adequate inventory levels to provide a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
  • Develops and maintains written policy and procedures for housekeeping and laundry services and activities.
  • Prepares and plans the Housekeeping budget and submits to the Director of Operations and Management for review and approval.
  • Seeks out new methods and principles, and incorporates them into existing Housekeeping practices.
  • Serves on assigned committees of the hotel and provides written or verbal reports of the Housekeeping services and activities as required by the committee's guidelines or direction.
  • Participates in continuing education opportunities for personal growth and development.
  • Plans and conducts staff meetings. Attends various other related meetings to obtain and disseminate pertinent information.
  • Participates as an active member of the management team.
  • Creating and delivering a customer-centric environment within the hotel and community.
  • Constantly inspiring all employees to do their best in exceeding customer expectations and owner’s financial performance requirements in everything “we” do.
  • Serving as “the obstacle remover” - eliminating impediments to employees being able to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Encouraging and supporting a creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial approach to problem solving and improvement.
  • Holding all team members accountable to results and commitments, in a positive manner.
  • Performing any other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in a hotel or large facility.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Must be effective at listening and clarifying concerns raised by co-workers and guests.
  • Must be able to monitor a safe working environment.
  • Must be willing to work majority of weekends in a month.
