Sheppard Pratt Hospitals is Hiring a PRN Registered Nurse/RN (Adolescent Male Crisis Stabilization Unit-Towson, Per Diem, Varies) Near Towson, MD

Come join our team of nurses on the Adolescent Male Crisis Stabilization Unit which prides itself in teaching adolescents how to cope with their mental illness through mutual respect and dignity for all. Our nurses have the opportunity to work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, music therapists, yoga therapists, behavior specialists and mental health workers to provide care to 20 patients. All care is done with a trauma informed approach and is encompassed by our core values, to meet a need, to lead, to care and to respect.

Every nurse on the Adolescent Male Crisis Stabilization Unit is provided the tools they need to be successful. New graduates can find education and support through our nurse residency program which helps guide you through your first year as a nurse. All applicants will be offered a share day to ensure that this program is a good fit for you and allow you an opportunity to see the incredible work performed every day. We are looking for kind, professional, positive, team-oriented nurses who support an inclusive and diverse work environment. We care for and support patients living with psychosis, trauma, and mood disorders who come to us to learn new ways to cope through life’s challenges and stressful situations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a full range of professional psychiatric nursing services, including assessing, planning, administering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with team treatment plans.
  • Administer medical treatment as prescribed by physician.
  • Teach and provide psychosocial support to patients and their families.
  • Provide day-to-day clinical direction to assigned Mental Health Workers or other paraprofessional staff.
  • Document and report patient progress to treatment team.

Requirements:

  • Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Maryland (or compact state) at time of appointment and continuously while in position.
  • Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing-acquired through at least one year of inpatient RN experience; prior LPN inpatient experience will be considered with every one year of LPN experience equating to 6 months RN experience.
  • Must be available to work at least four shifts per month
  • All new clinical staff will begin their extended clinical orientation/training immediately following your first day of employment.
