Shenandoah County Public Schools is Hiring a Bus Garage Technician Near Woodstock, VA
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- To perform all required mechanical maintenance on school buses, county-owned vehicles, school board equipment, and various other equipment;
- To prepare a standard work order on all jobs performed including time spent, parts used and other items required;
- To assist with inventory and asset tracking;
- To provide for all vehicle inspections according to school board policy and state law, and to make necessary repairs with appropriate reports written for each inspection completed;
- To conform to all safety regulations, policies and practices in order to insure a safe workplace;
- To pursue and maintain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification for school buses;
- Responds to emergency calls and off-site maintenance and repairs;
- Obtain and maintain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with air brakes and P&S endorsement;
- Wash and detail vehicles and maintain shop and school grounds as related to transportation;
- Repair shop equipment and other equipment for transportation;
- Attend professional development classes and in-services as necessary;
- Act as substitute driver for bus routes and field trips when substitute drivers are not available;
- To maintain diagnostic awareness of support systems for transportation staff and students;
- To perform maintenance duties while maintaining cleanliness in assigned work areas, and,
- Other duties as assigned by the Bus Garage Foreman and Supervisor of Transportation.
