Shenandoah County Public Schools is Hiring a Bus Garage Technician Near Woodstock, VA

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • To perform all required mechanical maintenance on school buses, county-owned vehicles, school board equipment, and various other equipment;
  • To prepare a standard work order on all jobs performed including time spent, parts used and other items required;
  • To assist with inventory and asset tracking;
  • To provide for all vehicle inspections according to school board policy and state law, and to make necessary repairs with appropriate reports written for each inspection completed;
  • To conform to all safety regulations, policies and practices in order to insure a safe workplace;
  • To pursue and maintain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification for school buses;
  • Responds to emergency calls and off-site maintenance and repairs;
  • Obtain and maintain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with air brakes and P&S endorsement;
  • Wash and detail vehicles and maintain shop and school grounds as related to transportation;
  • Repair shop equipment and other equipment for transportation;
  • Attend professional development classes and in-services as necessary;
  • Act as substitute driver for bus routes and field trips when substitute drivers are not available;
  • To maintain diagnostic awareness of support systems for transportation staff and students;
  • To perform maintenance duties while maintaining cleanliness in assigned work areas, and,
  • Other duties as assigned by the Bus Garage Foreman and Supervisor of Transportation.
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
