Shelby County Schools is Hiring an ELP Site Supervisor-Non Certified Near Memphis, TN

Purpose and Scope:

During before and after school hours extended learning programs, organizes, coordinates, and supervises the Extended Learning Program (ELP) after-school program. Develops daily programming and routines in collaboration with the ELP Site Worker to standardize processes used at their designated school site, including activities and the safety and well-being of all children while on school site grounds. In collaboration with the ELP Site Worker oversees data entry for Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE). Ensures program compliance with all applicable District policies and procedures, state and federal laws and regulations, and standards of quality and safety. Establishes processes to maintain program records.

Essential Job Functions :
  1. During, before and after school hours ELP, organizes, coordinates and supervises the Extended Learning Programs (ELP) for students at an assigned site in accordance with the Tennessee State Department of Education standards of School-Administered Child Care (Chapter 0520-12-01) and the public extended day outline.
  2. Ensures program compliance with all applicable District policies and procedures, state and federal laws and regulations, and standards of quality programming and safety. Interprets policies, procedures, laws and regulations for staff and parents as necessary.
  3. Supervises ELP staffs and makes recommendations for staff selection, evaluation, discipline, and terminations to ELP Manager.
  4. Develops activities for implementation at school site.
  5. Develops procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all children while on school site grounds.
  6. Develops age-appropriate programs and activities for students in grades PreK-12 including literacy enrichment, instructional interventions, homework assistance, meal time, recreational and structured play and organizes special events.
  7. Implements improvements to enhance services, to achieve goals and to ensure compliance.
  8. Maintains financial records and creates reports as required.
  9. Ensures the maintenance of accurate and complete student records at school sites.
  10. Performs general administrative work as required including entering and retrieving computer data, preparing reports and correspondence, copying, and filing documents, sending, and retrieving faxes and emails, answering the telephone and ordering supplies.
  11. Shall complete at least eighteen (18) hours of professional development each school year.
  12. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Minimum Qualifications:

A program Site Supervisor shall be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and shall meet at least the minimum qualification listed below:

Minimum experience required

High school diploma

Childcare experience = Preferred

(PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Basic knowledge of child growth and development, instructional procedures and practices applicable to students in PreK-12, and policies of the District.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate activities for children in PreK-12 grades
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of staff.
  • Ability to develop instructional plans for implementation at the school sites including homework, arts or crafts, computer skills and special events.
  • Ability to develop procedures to redirect inappropriate student behavior and effective techniques to ensure the safety and well-being of all children.
  • Ability to handle budgets and finances for the all the school sites.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, parent, District staff and general public. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage daily tasks without losing sight of long-term goals.
  • Ability to operate a computer and use appropriate software and peripheral office equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and to perform all required task.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

Physical Demands: Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity in operating office equipment.

Unavoidable Hazards: The position is exposed to no unusual environmental hazards.

Sensory (ADA) Requirements: The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities.
