Shawnee State University is Hiring an Athletics Compliance and Operations Manager Near Portsmouth, OH

Job Description Summary

JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Manager of Athletic Compliance implements athletic programs and policies, ensures compliance with regulations, helps with budgeting and finances. Additionally, this role evaluates, designs, and implements protocol and procedures to ensure the athletic department operates within the budgets allocated by the university while complying with all collegiate governing bodies

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

FUNCTIONS
1. Serve as the primary liaison between the Athletics Department and other constituencies with compliance responsibilities, Registrar, Admissions and Financial Aid. Coordinate the processes for certification of initial, transfer, and continuing eligibility and financial aid.
2. Assist the athletic director in overseeing the daily business operations of the athletic department.
3. Assist the athletic director in managing the department budget, fundraising, and other daily operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Serve as the primary liaison between the athletics department and other constituencies with compliance responsibilities, Registrar, Admissions and Financial Aid. Coordinate the processes for certification of initial, transfer, and continuing eligibility and financial aid.
a. Oversee distribution, collection, and filing of compliance-related paperwork, including eligibility checklists, financial aid forms, participation lists, playing and practice season reports, hardship petitions, administrative waivers, and supervision of the institution's National Letter of Intent Program.
b. Serve as one of the points of contact with all collegiate governing bodies for compliance-related matters. This includes all requests for rule interpretations.
c. Design compliance systems to determine that each has the necessary checks and balances to prevent potential violations.
d. Provide rules education and interpretations for student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and boosters.
e. Work in conjunction with other departments on campus and the institution's Title IX officer to ensure compliance with Title IX, specifically in the areas of participation, scholarships, and treatment of existing athletes and programs.
f. Perform compliance audits and make periodic reports on compliance-related matters. investigate, report, and process all rules and infractions.
2. Assist the athletic director in overseeing the daily business operations of the athletic department.
a. Analyzing financial information (e.g. revenues, expenditures, and cash management) to ensure all operations are within budget.
b. Monitoring spending patterns and implementing measures to promote adherence to budgets.
c. Assist coaches with budget planning and fund-raising plans.
d. Oversee and coordinate athletic insurance budgeting.
e. Assist with approval of athletic department purchases and assist with equipment and supply orders
f. Assist in annual budget reports for university and other governing bodies
3. Assist the athletic director in managing the department's budget, fundraising, and other daily operations
a. Tracking and reporting on team progress through analyzing past performances, recent successes, and areas for improvement
b. Assist in athletic department events
c. Assist with preparations and present regular reports on student-athlete academic progress, both within the athletic department and to other university committees.
d. Promoting events and fundraising
f. Provide guidance and support for academic success, mental health, and personal development to student-athletes
g. Inspecting facilities and equipment for cleanliness, safety, and upkeep

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sports Management, Business, Finance, Education, Kinesiology or a related field.
2. Two to three years of experience in management, business, coaching, or a related field
