The Custodian role (Service Tech I) will keep the lobbies and common areas clean, remove trash, shovel snow and remove trash from the grounds, along with any other light tasks assigned to them by their supervisor. As a result, our Janitors are the front line for showcasing our great properties and assisting residents in a timely and, most important, courteous manner for any custodial needs.

We are hiring full and part time Custodians in the Hyde Park area for first and second shifts with a pay rate of $17/hour! Please note, a vehicle and valid drivers license is required.

Overall Responsibility:

The Service Tech I is responsible for maintaining the exterior and interior physical condition of all residential buildings common areas, according to company operating and safety standards. They also ensure that cleaning service requests and repairs are made in a timely manner.

Essential Functions:

• Maintain leasing office, models, and interior public and common areas of the community in a neat, clean and attractive condition.
• Maintain all grounds, including sidewalks, public walkways, and stairways, building exteriors, garden areas in a neat, clean and attractive condition.
• Assisting in efforts to make vacant apartment homes rent-ready in a timely manner.
• Perform Make Ready work as required.
• Compact and remove trash and debris from community areas.
• Complete assigned cleaning requests and repairs consistent with company operating standards and in a timely manner.
• Maintain company customer service standards. Respond to resident requests and work with residents to minimize/resolve problems and complaints. Follow through to ensure issue is completed to resident’s satisfaction.
• Apply all applicable MAC policies and procedures such as, but not limited to company operating and safety standards.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local laws, specifically Fair Housing regulations.
• Ability to work flexible schedule, including on-call availability during winter months for snow removal.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Valid driver’s license and vehicle required for this position.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• Ability to identify cleaning and chemical supplies.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic skills such as measurement, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in order to do basic calculations and analysis such as estimating, determining averages and percentages, and totals.
• Ability to occasionally operate general office equipment and smartphones.
• Ability to frequently handle and use chemicals and general cleaning supplies.
• Ability to frequently transport up to 60 pounds variable distances, the mobility & flexibility to use required equipment and to access & work in restricted spaces or at heights in excess of 8-9 feet.
• Ability to frequently operate various motorized vehicles.
• Ability to frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and climb (stairs, ladders, etc.)
