Shane Retina, P.A. is Hiring an Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe Near Sarasota, FL

Summary of duties: The ophthalmic technician / scribe is responsible for conducting patient work-up, imaging, charting, and coding in a manner that enhances patient satisfaction and contributes to sustained practice efficiency and growth.

Essential Job Tasks

  • Optimize patient satisfaction and provider time by communicating in brief and positive statements that reflect the caring and professional culture at RCC
  • Obtain patient history, perform initial portion of eye exam, including vision check, visual field check, extraocular motions, pupils, mental status, eye pressure, and dilation
  • Assist in the performance of ocular imaging and procedures
  • Move the patient efficiently through the clinical space for work-up, imaging, and examination
  • Accompany the physician to accurately chart and code the exam visit
  • Assist with other clinical and administrative tasks as required

Qualifications and Skills

Education:

  • Some college

Knowledge and skill requirements:

  • Ability to establish and maintain professional, pleasant working relationships with patients, coworkers, vendors, and the public
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in the English language
  • Able to maintain and comply with patient confidentiality and integrity policy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, email, data entry, and typing
  • Understanding of medical history taking and basic medical terminology
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds from floor to waist on a periodic basis. Must be able to push, pull, bend and reach.
  • Ability to manage the occasional upset patient in an effort to effectively resolve the issue

Experience:

  • Established record of reliability, professional demeanor, and dedication to customer service
  • Ophthalmology-specific training will be provided on the job.

Job Type: Full-time (35 hours per week)

Salary: $22.00 per hour
