Job Description:

The Role

The Asset Management Quant Research Engineering team is looking for a Director of Quantitative Development who wishes to take on the challenge of building a world-class quant research platform. We are looking for individuals who bring expertise in functional programming frameworks and quant research infrastructure from top-tier competitor firms. This role is primarily focused on hands-on development and delivery, which requires a combination of both strong technical and influencing skills, as well as participation in architecture, design, analysis, and evangelizing activities.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in either Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Information Systems, Mathematics or Finance related field.
  • 5 years of software engineering experience, including in senior and/or team leadership roles, at peer firms utilizing agile methods and modern SDLC processes to deliver quality technological solutions in a transparent, reliable way.
  • Deep experience with quant research processes, methodologies, and tools
  • Expert-level development skills in Python, and mastery of functional programming paradigms like Aspect Oriented Programming. Fluency in formal language design concepts like type systems a plus.
  • A proven track record of architecting complex systems to work efficiently and reliably in mission critical applications. Ability to recognize business risk and surface it to key decision-makers.
  • A servant leader who is focused on promoting a team culture of accountability and continuous improvement and removing drag forces to enable team success.

The Value You Deliver

  • Deliver a functional programming framework for quant research in Python, enabling quant researchers to share code and data.
  • Work with quant researchers to understand their needs and shape the framework to better suit them, and to support them as they evaluate prototypes.
  • Partner with engineers supporting data persistence features provided by the framework, shaping the overall solution architecture.
  • Develop tools on top of the framework to solve key point problems, like code traceability or partial evaluation.
  • Provide leadership on software quality and design best practices, working with peers and earlier-career engineers to ensure the quality and scalability of the entire solution.

The Team

Asset Management Technology (AMT) provides worldwide technology and support to all the Investment Management, Research, Trading, and Investment Operations functions. This role will be part of our Quantitative Engineering team, which is responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining systems that support quantitative trading.
