Job Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in the Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) at our facility in Rohester, NY, you will be an essential member of our cardiology team, providing high-quality care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures. You will play a crucial role in the assessment, preparation, and recovery of patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, working collaboratively with cardiologists, interventional radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients scheduled for cardiac catheterization procedures, including reviewing medical history, performing physical assessments, and assessing cardiac status.
• Assist physicians and interventionalists during cardiac catheterization procedures, including preparing equipment, administering medications, and providing patient care as needed.
• Monitor patients' vital signs, cardiac rhythm, and hemodynamic status throughout the procedure, documenting findings accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
• Educate patients and their families about the cardiac catheterization procedure, including risks, benefits, and post-procedure care instructions.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols and infection control measures during all phases of patient care in the Cath Lab, ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Respond promptly to any complications or emergencies that arise during cardiac catheterization procedures, following established protocols and procedures for resuscitation and stabilization.
• Provide post-procedure care and monitoring to patients recovering from cardiac catheterization, including assessing for complications, managing pain, and facilitating patient comfort and safety.
• Collaborate with members of the multidisciplinary team, including cardiologists, radiologists, cardiovascular technologists, and nursing staff, to coordinate patient care and optimize outcomes.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and data collection activities to enhance the quality and safety of cardiac catheterization procedures and patient care in the Cath Lab.
• Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and evidence-based guidelines in cardiac catheterization nursing through continuing education, professional development activities, and participation in professional organizations.

Requirements:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of NY
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) or Cardiovascular Nursing (RN-BC) preferred.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in critical care, cardiac care, or interventional cardiology nursing preferred.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
