Seven Healthcare is Hiring a Registered Nurse, Emergency Department Near Utica, NY

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Utica, NY

Salary: $2700/week

Shift pattern: 36hours/week (3x12s)

Required: NY License, 2 Year Experience, BLS, ACLS

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Perform rapid and comprehensive assessments of patients presenting to the ED, including obtaining a thorough medical history, assessing vital signs, and identifying signs and symptoms of acute illness or injury.
  • Utilize triage protocols to prioritize patient care based on acuity level and ensure timely interventions for patients with life-threatening conditions.
  • Initiate emergency interventions and treatments according to established protocols and evidence-based practice guidelines, including cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, medication administration, and resuscitation efforts.
  • Perform advanced nursing procedures as needed, such as IV access, wound care, catheterization, and assisting with emergent procedures (e.g., intubation, chest tube insertion).
  • Exercise sound clinical judgment and critical thinking skills to rapidly assess patient conditions, identify potential complications, and implement appropriate nursing interventions to stabilize patients in critical situations.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team, including physicians, advanced practice providers, and other interdisciplinary team members, to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients in the ED.
  • Advocate for patients' needs and rights, ensuring informed consent for treatments and procedures and promoting shared decision-making between patients and their families.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding their diagnosis, treatment plan, medications, and discharge instructions, fostering understanding and adherence to the plan of care.
  • Accurately document all aspects of patient care, assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
  • Communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team, including hand-off reports, consultations, and interdisciplinary rounds, to ensure continuity of care and safe transitions for patients.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness activities, disaster drills, and response protocols to ensure readiness for mass casualty incidents or public health emergencies.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, data collection, and performance improvement projects to enhance the delivery of emergency nursing care and patient outcomes in the ED.

Required

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.
  • Emergency Nursing Certification (CEN) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with 2 years of experience in emergency nursing preferred.
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to rapidly changing situations in the ED environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members and communicate compassionately with patients and their families.
