Manager of Intergenerational Programs

SAGE is the country’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQ ) older adults. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in New York City, SAGE is a national organization that offers supportive services and consumer resources for LGBTQ older adults and their caregivers, advocates for public policy changes that address the needs of LGBTQ older people, and provides cultural competency training for aging providers and LGBTQ organizations, largely through its National Resource Center on LGBTQ Aging and its growing social enterprise SAGECare.

Position Summary:

SAGE is seeking a manager of Intergenerational Programs with a strong commitment to community engagement for our intergenerational programming at our SAGE Centers. The Manager of Intergenerational Programs will serve as a lead for programming that engages youth, middle-aged, and older adult community members in fun and educational relationship-building experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure, develop strategies, and facilitate Intergenerational Programs as well as build deep engagement with community-based organization to create an Intergenerational hub at SAGE
  • Center Bronx at the Pride House and SAGE Center Brooklyn at Stonewall House.
  • Ensure and facilitate delivery of a diverse array of programming for LGBTQ older adults at SAGE Center Bronx and SAGE Center Stonewall; proactively solicit suggestions from current and prospective participants and ensure the provision of mandated programming.
  • Coordinate with SAGE specialists, consultants, contracted instructors, and volunteers to implement daily curriculum at SAGE Bronx Center and SAGE Stonewall Brooklyn.
  • Conduct outreach with local LGBTQ constituencies and other community resources, to (1) build attendance at SAGE events through printed materials (flyers, calendar), word of mouth, social media, and other available means, and (2) seek input/participation in programming
  • Collaborate with pertinent staff to evaluate needs of diverse groups of LGBTQ older adults and respond with innovative, evidence-based interventions
  • Collaborate with Site Director’s to ensure collection of client and service unit statistics and entry into regulatory and agency databases; provide monthly data reports to Site Director’s.
  • Conduct on-going assessment of actual vs. projected service units to ensure DFTA targets for SAGE Center Bronx are met
  • Complete administrative paperwork and assist in DFTA reporting process
  • Attend pertinent conferences and in-services training sessions that contribute to professional enrichment of staff and innovative programming.
  • Create and implement effective and interesting intergenerational programming (both virtual and in person) for participants and the LGBTQ community.
  • Track outreach efforts and program attendance using Salesforce or DFTA’s STARS database.
  • Recruit intergenerational programming partners and participants through community outreach to include flyers, phone calls, text messages, emails, attending community meetings, etc.
  • Represent SAGE at intergenerational programming cohort meetings as organized by funder.
  • Assist with the organization and implementation of special events, activities, and projects
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Services, Education, Communications, Management, Non-profit Leadership, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Experience performing community outreach, including creating and implementing targeted outreach plans.
  • Experience collaborating with other CBO’s, and producing/implementing community – based programming
  • Ability to travel on public transport to outreach locations
  • Computer-proficient; ability to learn pertinent regulatory and agency software and database programs
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks while maintaining appropriate level of customer service
  • Flexible and dependable

Additional, Preferred Qualifications:

  • Tactile understanding of issues facing LGBTQ , older adults, people of color, and other marginalized communities
  • Cultural and linguistic competency to enable effective communication among diverse groups of Participants
  • Bilingual in Spanish

Reports to: Sr. Director of Programs & Services
Status: Full-time / Nonexempt / 35-hour/week salaried position
Location: New York, NY – remote, with travel around NYC Centers as needed
Salary range: $60-$65k
