What You'll Do :

Under direction of the Transportation Manager, provides support in the areas of planning and implementing the production, staging, loading and shipping of products to ensure timely and efficient delivery of high quality bedding products and exceptional customer service.

Supports the Scheduling function and provides direction to the Drivers or 3rd party logistics partners. Trains and provides direction to all of the Materials Delivery Coordinators on the docks.

Maintains documentation and records on all order and shipping related transactions. Follows all safety policies and procedures defined by the company safety program and OSHA regulations to eliminate work related injuries.

• Fosters a safety culture and the implementation of safety policies and training in compliance with the company safety program and OSHA regulations to eliminate work related injuries.
• Coordinates with Transportation Manager and Safety Champion to report and investigate work related accidents and injuries on timely basis.
• Plans and organizes the delivery function of the department ensuring timely and efficient delivery of high quality bedding products.
• Coordinates with Transportation Manager in order to attain delivery, cost and quality of service objectives.
• Works effectively with Scheduling to schedule deliveries and the pick-up of returned merchandise.
• Responsible for driver / customer issues and communication regarding delivery delays.
• Manages returned goods inspection program and maintains related documentation for monitoring shortages in shipments.
• Identifies systems and procedures designed to improve operations. Makes recommendations and implements new programs as needed.
• Assists on the dock, provides back-up supervision and assists with special projects as needed.
• Assists the Transportation Manager with special projects as requested including programs designed to improve methods.
• Fosters positive working relationships and responds proactively to employee concerns.
• Maintains knowledge of current trends in the field; and attends appropriate training programs to remain current on delivery, DOT, health / safety and related issues.

Participates in the Plant Safety and Quality meetings.

Support for internal fleet (if applicable)

What you'll Bring :

• High school diploma or GED
• Three or more years of relevant experience within a lean manufacturing and JIT production environment required.
• One year or more experience in a Warehouse, Shipping and / or Receiving position
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
• Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet or database software preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English
• Must be at least 18 years or older
