Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Services, Social Work, or another related field.
Related Experience: A minimum of two years of increasingly responsible experience in Workforce Development, Job Development, Job Readiness/Placement or other related experience in a non-profit or social service agency. Related work experience may be used in leu of education.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Employment Services, the Employment Coach will be responsible for supporting SERJobs’ members in their job search and placement. Specifically, this position will focus on all activity related to obtaining a new career. This includes, but is not limited to, evaluating members’ background, skills, and interests and matching them to potential job openings or training programs. They will assist career coaches as they work with members to ensure resumes are suited for their desired career path and prepared for the interview process. The Employment Coach is to be a final check for all resumes and will conduct mock interviews. This position will also be responsible for coordinating all hiring events, job fairs, and information sessions. They will utilize technology and their relationships with employer partners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & KEY ACCOUNTABILITES
EMPLOYMENT DUTIES:
  • Support career coaches with resume and interview guidance and instruction so coaches can better assist members.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of quarterly and monthly hiring events and industry-specific information sessions.
  • Utilize technology event management tools, such as Eventbrite and other online tools to ensure that data is captured and inputted into Salesforce.
  • Initiates and maintains ongoing contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives and job placement/training agencies to promote programs for participant placement.
  • Monitor employment data in Salesforce and follow up with coaches and/or members to ensure they find employment.
  • Provide support for the creation and delivery of MOUs with employer partners.
  • Coordinate employer conversations and activity with the training department, providing feedback and ensuring all information related to training, apprenticeship, and employment opportunities is meeting the needs of all parties.
  • Follows up with graduates to offer continuing job search coaching and assist in obtaining regular, full-time employment.
  • Monitor program activities to ensure quality and accuracy of SER outcomes in relation to contractual and grant commitments.
  • Monitor documentation of services and ensuring all grant reports are completed in an efficient, accurate and timely manner in accordance with Salesforce CRM database and grant requirements to ensure data integrity and a real reflection of program efforts.
  • Support all advancement, fundraising activities as needed, such as obtaining letters of commitment and providing employment-related information.
COACHING DUTIES:
  • Assists members to better understand their abilities, talents, interests, and personality characteristics in order to develop realistic career options.
  • Adjusts coaching technique, based on the strengths and weaknesses of individuals.
  • Provides training and education direction, encouragement, and motivation in order to prepare individuals for assessments, exploration, and creating an individual action/development plan.
  • Files reports that detail individual assessments, demographics, provide insight to current situation, and opportunities for future action plan efforts.
  • Participate in long- and short-term program development and planning.
  • Have a passion for helping others understand and communicate their true value.
  • Adhere to SER's administrative and recordkeeping guidelines to support accurate bookkeeping and documentation of activities.
  • As SER is ever growing and changing, you may need to adapt to new duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in Workforce Development, Job Development, Job Readiness/Placement or other related experience in a non-profit or social service agency.
  • Demonstrated solid knowledge about the methods of job development and job placement and career coaching techniques, accepted standard employment practices, modern office methods, and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to conduct labor market research on individual employers and industries, as well as specific occupations and their education, experience, and credential requirements
  • Strong knowledge of city, state, and federal laws, regulations, and codes related to employment and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO).
  • Experience in planning and conducting training sessions or workshops.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to speak efficiently, effectively, professionally, and persuasively to members, employers, and community groups. Strong networking skills.
  • Leadership skills in conflict intervention, negotiation, and decision-making. Ability to self-direct.
  • Passion and desire to work with, and advocate for, at-risk and under-represented individuals, many of whom may have multiple barriers to employment which need to be identified and addressed.
  • Ability to establish rapport and relate sensitively to individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Willingness to engage in continuous learning and training.
  • Ability to successfully carry out multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) desired.
