Job Description

Job Title: Placer Rides Program Coordinator
Department: Transportation Program
Reports To: Information & Assistance/Transportation Program Manager

SUMMARY:

Seniors First, Keeping Seniors Independent, by providing transportation options available throughout Placer County. Interacting both by telephone and face to face with Senior citizens, family members and/or caregivers to educate them about transportation options available to Seniors, individuals with disabilities, or individuals with low income. The job will include educating the public, processing applications for ride services to include accurate data entry for reimbursement requests, scheduling commercial rides, and producing digital reports.

Staff will maintain a matrix of public and private transportations services . Primary duties will also include significant phone work, ability to communicate the terms of Placer Rides program and alternative funding and transport options, data entry, and short term case management and problem-solving. May include public speaking on behalf of the program.

· AA degree in Human Services, Social work, Gerontology, Public Transportation or equivalent experience preferred.

· Computer experience with Microsoft Office and Excel

· Basic business math skills

· Excellent communication and customer service skills

Ability to function independently within established guidelines

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains a matrix of public and private transportation agencies and transportation guides to redirect the client to when needed.
  • Primarily data entry and phone calls.
  • Short-term case management and problem-solving skills.
  • Schedule commercial rides as required by the program.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Self-starter with the ability to envision organizational goals.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned with respect to this position.
  • Intake applications based on eligibility.
  • Answers incoming phone calls and directs callers to appropriate programs within the agency when appropriate.
  • Ability to work well in a team, interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and high standards of professionalism. Strong time management skills and ability to manage stress successfully.
  • Ability to effectively use computer and databases to complete job functions.
  • Effective public speaking skills.

SPECIFICATIONS: To always represent Seniors First responsibly and professionally.

  • Computer experience with Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Possess business math skills.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to function independently within established guidelines.

Position: Placer Rides Program Specialist

Reports To: Information & Assistance/Transportation Program Manager

Hours:30 to 40 hrs. /wk. Flexible

Wage: Based on education/experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
