Senior Living is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Hickory, NC

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our senior living corporate office finance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, performing financial analyses, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Key Responsibilities:

General Ledger Maintenance: Record and reconcile daily financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, to ensure accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries.

Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Assist in the analysis of financial results, identifying trends and variances for management review.

Month-End Close: Participate in the month-end closing process, ensuring all necessary journal entries are made, accounts are reconciled, and financial statements are accurately produced.

Expense Analysis: Monitor and analyze expenses, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements. Provide recommendations to management based on expense trends.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the annual budgeting process by collaborating with department heads to compile data and create accurate financial forecasts.

Intercompany Transactions: Record and reconcile intercompany transactions between different senior living communities and corporate entities.

Audit Support: Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audit engagements, providing necessary documentation and explanations to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Compliance: Stay current with accounting principles, standards, and regulations. Ensure adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company policies.

Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance accounting processes, implementing best practices for efficiency and accuracy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments to obtain financial information, resolve discrepancies, and support overall financial operations.

The Staff Accountant position will assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports for our senior living communities by providing accurate and timely financials to communities and by supporting the operational team with expert customer service. This position must successfully work in a team environment, work across multiple facets of the organization, properly prioritize daily activities, and understand accounting issues in a complex corporate structure. 

Minimum eligibility requirements• Degree in Accounting or related field • CPA or candidate preferred• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel• Strong organizational skills • Strong interpersonal skills • Strong oral and written communication skills • Strong problem-solving skills • Team oriented attitude • Must be able to analyze large amounts of data quickly• Ability to comfortably work in an intensely deadline-oriented environmentEssential Functions • Daily bank reconciliations• Monthly expense accruals• Create monthly financials• Maintenance of audit folders• Monthly GL account reconciliations• Analyze financial statements
