Select Genetics is Hiring a Turkey Poultry Service Technician Near Wadesboro, NC

Select Genetics, LLC is seeking a top-notch Turkey Farm Service Technician to join and complete our current Service Technician team at our Wadesboro, North Carolina Division. The best-qualified individual must share and support the company's visions and values as a leading supplier of quality poults, services, and innovation. Select Genetics presents a solid platform to serve customers nationally and internationally by providing quality poults to growers and companies worldwide. We have operations in eight (8) states. Each Service Technician primarily services our Farms via Farm Managers of those farms to ensure top livability, excellent health, and exceptional production, and they provide strong support for the Breeder Manager's production procedures, processes, and protocols. Our company's Biosecurity, Animal Welfare, and Safety policies are to be strictly enforced daily. Therefore, there will be consistent expectations of cleanliness and animal welfare standards, which can never be stressed enough.

Accountabilities/Experience/and Skills are (but not exhaustive) are:

  • Required to drive a company vehicle; therefore, must be able to pass an MVR (Motor Vehicle Report).
  • Experience with live animals preferred.
  • Being Bilingual and fluent in English and Spanish would be great.
  • Adhere to the company's policies, procedures, business ethics codes, and all applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Follow strict attendance policy.
  • Follow the directives of the Breeder Manager, Veterinarian, or any other upper-level Supervision.
  • Must follow the company’s rules and regulations for biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety
  • Work productively with Farm Managers and peers in building a dedicated and influential team
  • Must be organized and demonstrate the need to prioritize daily/weekly responsibilities to ensure efficient operations
  • The ability to read and interpret the company's policies and procedures.
  • Microsoft Office experience, Word, Excel, and Email (sending and receiving).
  • Self-starter and adaptable to learning
  • Excellent Mathematical ability
  • Proven Solver
  • Flexibility to work extended work days and hours if needed

Additional requirements are:

  • Detail orientation; sharp attention to detail.
  • Active listener.
  • Be a self-starter without the need for constant supervision.
  • Occasional delivery of supplies and equipment to various locations.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Possess hard and soft communication skills with the understanding of when and how to apply them.
  • Good reading skills.
  • Supervise washing and disinfecting turkey production facilities safely and organized.
  • Follow the company’s rules and regulations for biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety.
  • Work productively with farm managers and peers to build an effective team.
  • Be willing to help in any area to get the job done, be a doer rather than a ruler whenever needed, and lead by example.
  • Work with a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Have the ability to push, bend, stoop, squat, pull and lift 50lbs or more
  • Organize and prioritize responsibilities to ensure efficient operations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain focus.
  • Present a positive and professional image of the company.
  • Exhibit courtesy and professionalism at all times.
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A College Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Does not own or operate around backyard poultry, foul, or swine operations off-duty.
  • Knowledge and experience of animal husbandry and welfare preferred.
  • A valid Missouri Driver’s License and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record is required.
  • A solid understanding of fundamental business practices; the ability to lead and manage others; the ability to build creative, productive, and cohesive teams; excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and listening; the ability to be self-sufficient and able to organize and prioritize work; the ability to work under pressure; the ability to read and interpret relevant technical, industry, government regulations, and legislation; the ability to communicate interact, influence, persuade all levels of employees. The incumbent must exhibit sound business judgment, be decisive, flexible, and have determination.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish speaking skills are a plus.
