Job Title: Manual Machinist

Location: 11012 Aurora-Hudson Road, Streetsboro, OH 44241

Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm, Monday through Friday

Manager: Operations Manager

Starting Pay Rate: Hourly: $20.00 - $24.00

The Manual Machinist machines a variety of castings and bar stock utilizing engine lathe, turret lathe, bridgeport mill, radial drill press, and various other machine tools and equipment, in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Operates various manual machine tools to machine parts from start to finish i.e., lathe, mill, press, etc.
• Sets up equipment required to complete each step of the manufacturing plan.
• Develops a plan of action to manufacture parts according to specifications.
• Performs first-piece and subsequent inspections per company sampling plan, subject to approval by Quality department.
• Interfaces with Engineering and Quality to ensure product quality and specifications.
• Recommends necessary tooling and consumable supplies for each production job as needed.
• Actively pursues operational improvements to enhance quality, improve production, and initiate cost reduction opportunities.
• Maintains clean and organized work space.
• Assists in the maintenance and repair of machines on regular basis.
• Trains additional staff to operate manual machine equipment as need.
• Utilizes material handling equipment to transport material between work centers and areas within production area.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Must be able to read blueprints, CAD drawings, sketches, written instructions, and interpret data.
• Experience in job shop environment with rapid changeovers and short cycle times a plus.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Ability to work and communicate with all levels of the organization.
• Self-motivated in a team environment.

Experience / Education:

• 3-5 years of manual machining experience on a variety of turning and milling machine equipment.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience with ISO/QS certification a plus.
• Production / manufacturing experience a plus.
• Above average math and organizational skills.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds with help. The employee is required to be able to get in and out of and drive a tow motor. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Requires special safety precautions such as working around moving parts, machines or with irritant chemicals. Employees are required to use protective clothing or gear. May work in an area that is uncomfortable due to temperature, noise levels, or other conditions.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work: This is a full time, non-exempt, hourly position. Hours of work are Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm, with one half hour for unpaid lunch.
