Seiler Instrument Company, headquartered in St. Louis, is looking for a knowledgeable and experienced CNC Machinist ready to transition to an estimating role. This position is responsible for preparing estimates for quoting purposes. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of the machining process, and be able to provide estimates for machining time on parts. The Manufacturing Estimator will also collaborate closely with various departments to gather essential information and ensure that cost estimates align with project specifications and budget constraints.

Responsibilities include:

• Analyze drawings and solid models of precision parts to determine the most efficient sequence of operations required for machining.
• Evaluate costing data to project production costs of new products and to prepare estimates for current and prospective customers.
• Stay current with changing technologies of respective industries and apply information to current and new projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather essential data, including project specifications, materials costs, labor rates, and production timelines.
• Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs and provide proactive solutions to mitigate these risks.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED, with minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar field is preferred.
• Formal Mastercam training preferred but not required. Experience with Mastercam and/or equivalent acceptable.
• Experience estimating cost in manufacturing aerospace and defense parts.
• Extensive knowledge of fixturing and machining principles utilizing NC machines is essential for this position.
• Knowledge of materials and their machining characteristics.
• Fluent in current release of Mastercam programming software preferred.
• Solidworks experience is preferred.
• Strong communication skills
