Sedgwick County is Hiring a Shelter Plus Care Coordinator - COMCARE Near Wichita, KS

Department: COMCARE
Pay: $25.36 per hour.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm

Assesses and coaches individuals on life skills. Provides assistance and referrals for clients. Performs responsible work interviewing, qualifying and verifying tenant families for entry into and continuation in the Shelter Plus Care housing program. Monitors participants’ progress, working with partner providers to link participants to appropriate and relevant resources. Assists participants in achieving goals as related to HUD grant requirements.
Manage Shelter Plus Care (SPC) application process
Assess participants for eligibility
Provide assistance to referring agencies to complete HMIS documentation for SPC eligibility
Provide necessary documents to provider partners to complete SPC applications with eligible clients
Guide partner providers in obtaining required supporting documentation
Meet with ICSs and participants to review application information
Host orientation meetings and issues
Issue housing vouchers to individuals who meet HUD requirements
Facilitate Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections
Facilitate lease-ups, where each SPC participant, their ICS, the Housing Eligibility Specialist, and the landlord meet in order for the participant to sign their lease and other paperwork as pertains to entry into the SPC program
Travel in personal vehicle to conduct inspections, lease signing, and attend meetings
Promote continued Shelter Plus Care (SPC) participation
Consistent communicate with each participant’s Integrated Care Specialist (ICS)
Conducts Annual Re-certifications and Inspections
Meet with ICS as needed to review cases
Conduct annual re-certifications
Record Keeping and Reporting
Certify as a Housing Quality Standards inspector
Maintain participant files with all HUD-required documentation and supported written documentation
Collect data necessary to meet funding requirements
Report outcomes as requested
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a human services field. Education may be substituted for experience, with one year of experience for one year of education. Two (2) years of working directly with and/or on behalf of people and communities. Per Sedgwick County policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. Must have access to personal passenger vehicle to complete the driving duties of the position. Must be HCV Housing Quality Standards (HQS) certified at time of hire or must register for the first available HQS training course and successfully pass the certification exam following employment. Meet the specifications as outlined in the CMHC/CCBHC licensing standards and pass KBI, DCF child abuse check, adult abuse registry, and motor vehicle screens. Must complete orientations provided by Sedgwick County and COMCARE.
