POSITION OVERVIEW:
Apply now to join the Second Chance Learning Team! As a highly qualified tutor, you are
responsible for the educational integrity of our curriculum, student engagement and
learning process. This may be done in a one-on-one or group setting. Tutors will report
on students and share those reports with supervisors at the end of each session. In
addition to the academic component, tutors offer encouragement and support to
keep students motivated and ready to learn and serve as a role model to the student.
This position requires the employee to have excellent communication skills and the
ability to adapt his or her teaching methods to meet the needs of the student, as well
as have a desire to see students succeed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Build strong, caring relationships with students and other personnel.
Work with the educational team to ensure academic progress and success for all
students.
Coordinate and monitor student engagement and success by identifying and
resolving barriers to academic success and establishing linkages between
students and existing resources.
Monitor preparation and pacing of tutoring to ensure mastery of relevant
standards.
Address students' differing levels, skills and learning styles, while incorporating
technology, materials, and activities to create a highly engaging experience for
students.
Identify and monitor student achievement goals consistent with school district
expectations.
Establish rapport with targeted students.
Administer assessments and analyze and interpret results.
Must possess a passion for helping students learn and have the knowledge
and skills to help students find new ways to look at difficult skills and concepts.
Possess patience, as many students you work with will have trouble
understanding the content you are trying to help them with. You must also have
a positive attitude and know ways to motivate students when they become
frustrated by material they do not understand.
MINIMIUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS REQUIRED:
Must have a degree in specialty area (Reading/Language Arts, Math, Special
Education or ELL)
Must possess excellent knowledge of Curriculum programs in area of specialism
and of pedagogical approaches that have impact on student achievement and
engagement.
Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must be self-motivated and directed.
Demonstrated skill in use of data to inform instructional decisions.
Demonstrated sensitivity and human relations skills.
Demonstrated willingness to be an open and active listener.
Must be able & willing to start by June 10th!
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
