Description

The Children and Youth Associate II, you assist with the development and implementation of programs for children, youth and their families at all WCM program sites. The goal of this program is to help children and youth be spiritually sound, academically strong and socially skilled.

Schedule 

Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Occasional evenings and weekends 

What you will do 

  • Assist the manager in developing programs and curriculum to support the spiritual, educational and social needs of the children and youth in our enhanced and recovery shelters
  • Implement programs including: weekly Bible clubs, ongoing discipleship, educational support and activities for school breaks
  • Lead and support staff and volunteers assigned in this program
  • Build and maintain relationships with children, youth and parents
  • Assist with planning and leading monthly family activities
  • Lead the childcare team for special events, including Hope Place graduations
  • Establish and maintain good communication and relationships with WCM guests and staff
  • Maintain appropriate records and documentation
  • Ensure that all site programs and activities operate consistently with the Mission's mission statement, corporate goals, and core values
  • Supervise and ensure the safe use and stewardship of all UGM facilities, vehicles, and equipment
  • Participate in Mission and Department meetings and trainings
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications


  • Associate’s Degree required, a combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of an associate’s degree
  • Two years of experience working with children or youth
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and use of basic office technology
  • Possess a valid Washington State driver's license and be able to meet the standards of the Mission driver criteria required, including but not limited to:
    • Clean driving record
    • No current suspensions or revocations
    • At least 21 years of age

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to lead children’s activities including frequently standing or walking. The employee may occasionally sit for long periods of time in a temperature-controlled environment. Requires frequent use of computers, keyboarding, and talking on the telephone. Occasionally will stand, balance, twist, bend, stoop, kneel and reach with hands/arms. Regularly lifts up to 25 pounds and walks using stairways to climb to multiple floors within the facility. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
