Position Description

Seattle University is seeking a talented and innovative videographer to join our dynamic marketing communications team. In this role, you will be responsible for shaping the future direction, structure and strategy of the university’s video services, supporting our marketing goals with high-quality video content. Summary:
The videographer will be responsible for the conception, planning, production, and distribution of videos and multimedia content in support of university marketing initiatives. The successful candidate will display a strong background in video production, motion graphics, shooting, lighting, and video editing. Video and rich media content produced by this position will support strategic priorities of the university. Expert knowledge of current video and audio production equipment, technologies, and software is essential. A successful candidate will be able to work efficiently and independently to meet important deadlines and keep up with industry best practices. The ability to tell compelling stories through video is critical.
Responsibilities include:

• Handle video project management for Seattle University marketing communications, individual colleges, and other key university entities.
• Duties include researching, shot planning, conducting interviews, motion graphics design/creation, directing, editing, and distribution and posting of video content.
• Manage the editorial calendar for clients and stay ahead of jobs to ensure quality, current messaging, alignment with brand standards.
• Regularly film all-purpose footage including campus life and b-roll and manage video archives.
• Promote multimedia work throughout the university and through strong relationship with university partners.
• Support budget process, equipment purchases and maintenance and track all jobs.
• Provides coaching and mentorship to student workers.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Advertising, or Journalism, Film/video emphasis preferred.
• 5 years experience location shooting/lighting/directing/motion graphics/editing.
• Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills for print, video and web.
• Proficiency with modern cameras, lenses, drones, video editing software (Adobe Premiere or Final CutX), motion graphics software (After Effects), and Adobe Photoshop.
• Superior organizational, interpersonal, speaking skills, and the ability to work independently and manage requests from various groups.
• Ability to drive results and multi-task in a collaborative, mission driven and consensus-focused organization.
• Ability to manage timelines, track jobs, and stay focused.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of internal and external partners.
• High ethical standards and integrity required and commitment to SU mission and values.
• Understanding and experience with social media and other digital media platforms.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience flying drones or interested in becoming a licensed drone pilot.

Compensation at a Glance:
Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.
