General Summary:

The Title IX/Section 504 Coordinator oversees the university's compliance with Title IX of the federal Education Amendments of 1972, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other applicable anti-discrimination laws. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Human Resources, this position collaborates with various university departments and stakeholders to prevent discrimination, harassment, and retaliation on the basis of sex and disability. Also works within HR to assess and update various employment policies and as HR representative on some institutional policy revisions and updates. As part of the Human Resources Team this position reports directly to the AVP for HR, but as a Department of Education-recognized institutional representative this position operates with direct access to the University President.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and facilitate compliance efforts with Title IX, Section 504, and other relevant laws and regulations.
  • Maintain centralized records of all reports, investigations, and resolutions related to discrimination and harassment.
  • Provide support and resources to individuals impacted by violations of university policies.
  • Oversee the investigation and resolution of formal complaints of discrimination and harassment.
  • Lead educational outreach programs and training initiatives to promote awareness and prevention of discrimination and sexual harassment.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to ensure accessibility to university programs and facilities.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with changing regulatory requirements. Recommend updates and revisions of HR related SPU policy and procedure to ensure ongoing compliance. Recommends and executes policy communication, including updates to appropriate University handbooks and publications.
  • Serve as the university's content expert and liaison in Title IX and ADA/Section 504 related matters.
Job Requirements:


Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Prior professional experience in compliance, investigations, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of government regulations pertaining to Title IX, Section 504, ADA, and anti-discrimination laws.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Maturing and contagious Christian faith, knowledge of and the willingness to actively support the Christian mission of the University and accept the lifestyle standards of the Christian community.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in student affairs, higher education, social work, or related field.
  • Experience conducting and tracking harassment and discrimination complaint investigations.
  • Familiarity with developing protocols and strategies for addressing Title IX and Section 504/ADA issues.
Additional Information:

Position will remain open until filled.

Salary: $72,000 - $78,000 annually, DOE

This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance.
