This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-SPS.

What you will be working on:
  • You'll be responsible for investing in student lives by helping them degree plan, connect with resources, and achieve academic success while in the Seattle Promise program
  • You'll use multiple platforms to track the successes of your caseload, support students furthest from educational justice to earn an associate degree
  • You'll partner with internal and external offices to facilitate student success
  • You'll work with a large, dedicated, high-performing team that leads efforts to advance equitable student success, including closing equity gaps, particularly with regard to race and ethnicity
  • Throughout your work you'll demonstrate cultural humility and intercultural engagement, including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations, and create an educational environment that affirms commitment to equity and diversity
  • You'll work with your team to improve the program's student retention and degree completion rates
What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)
  • You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, student development, psychology, human relations, or related field.
  • You have two years' experience or equivalent advising college and/or high school students in an education or social services setting.
  • You have strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly related to distilling complex concepts to a diverse group of students
  • You have ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines while being attentive to detail
  • You have the ability to work well under time pressure and on high-stakes projects
  • You are detail-oriented with experience consistently delivering high quality work products
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform range of physical motions, exerting up to 25 pounds; lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs.
