Position Summary

South Seattle College is looking to hire a Student Technology Systems Analyst in the Student Services department.

Salary Range for this position is $69,000.00 to $78,000.00 annually, depending on experience.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Dean of Student Development & Retention, the Student Technology Systems Analyst (STSA) will serve as a campus subject matter expert of our student success technology systems and processes. Through strong partnerships across departments, the STSA will collaborate with colleagues to analyze management and business issues and processes across multiple technology systems (e.g. ctcLink (Peoplesoft), Starfish, Canvas and our district-wide web tools) to develop strategies to improve effective data collection and reporting of student progress. The position will coordinate and assist with the implementation of strategic and long-range planning activities for monitoring and measuring outcomes for our Guided Pathways student success efforts and ongoing evaluation of our technology tools, programs, and student success interventions.
The STSA will conduct multi-dimensional research and analysis, formulate recommendations, and report outcomes. In partnership with our Institutional Effectiveness department, this role will serve as a key communicator of students' progress in their time at South Seattle College so we can better identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
This position is dependent on the State WEIA allocation affiliated to Guided Pathways. Position is continuously re-evaluated every 2 years.
This position is an exempt role governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with representation by AFT-SPS and subject to union shop provisions.

What you will be working on:

  • Serves as subject matter expert within Student Services for ctcLink (PeopleSoft), Active Directory (MySeattleColleges), Starfish, district-wide web tools, and other student success systems, particularly data that would be transferred between systems using a secure file transfer protocol.
  • Leads the strategic development and implementation of Program Mapping continuous improvement processes for Student Services including:
  • Management of student groups, advisor loads, advising assignments, and degree planner data
  • Workflows for Program Pathways (ex. order of operations, workflow, coding, and content).
  • Creation and maintenance of documentation required for pathway maps, including transfer concentration coding within ctcLink (PeopleSoft).
  • Aligned practices, procedures, and documentation with district colleagues.
  • Creation and maintenance of manuals or training guides related to technology processes and workflows.
  • Organizes and leads projects designing progress monitoring strategies through the implementation and refined use of adopted student success technology systems including:
  • Starfish training and implementation in partnership with District Starfish Administrator.
  • Supporting Starfish communications interventions in partnership with Advising and Enrollment Services.
  • Identifying Student Services technology needs and overlaps as it relates to mapping, webpages, and Degree Planner.
  • Supporting departments to review and develop essential business processes that impact student records to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and ease of use of our technology systems (ex. Starfish and Handshake).
  • Development of reports and routine auditing processes of student records to ensure inter-departmental processes are functioning correctly and can provide accurate data.
  • Leading collaborative activities to resolve issues impacting accurate progress monitoring reporting.
  • Developing and delivering business processes and procedures training to ensure staff comply with operational best practices.
  • Support departments in reporting progress monitoring data for retention and completion continuous improvement goals
  • Partners with departments to prepare project reports, summaries with narrative, statistical charts, tables, and graphs to identify solutions to implement strategic and long-range planning activities (ex. such as education plans and student success plans).
  • Collaborate with departments to identify and plan business process changes for short- and long-term strategic improvements in student progress.
  • Creates and implements surveys, questionnaires, interviews, focus groups, and/or other data collection processes to refine efforts for continuous improvement strategies.
  • Serve and/or attend college, district, and state meetings related to student success technology, coding, and other relevant areas to role.
  • Leads study projects to collect information to assist management in determining future business and operational requirements for institutionalization of program mapping, progress monitoring activities, and use of student success technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)

  • Experience with administrative computing systems in support of functions common to higher education institutions (e.g., admissions, registration, financial aid, transcripts, library, etc.).
  • Experience using software, spreadsheets, pivot tables, and database querying.
  • Experience training others in technical processes.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with individuals and groups of diverse ethnic backgrounds.
  • Experience with process design, evaluation, and documentation.
  • Experience creating comprehensive reports
  • Familiarity with modern student information systems such as ctcLink (Peoplesoft) or EAB Starfish or similar student success systems.
