JOB TITLE: Accounting Specialist

REPORTS TO: Business Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for full-cycle accounting operations for accounts payable and accounts receivable, to ensure accurate and timely accounting records, reports and related data. Maintains accounts, performs reporting for local grant programs, and supports school bookkeeper functions. Performs a variety of specialized, complex accounting duties requiring the application of advanced accounting methods and the knowledge of a range of accounting principles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent and three years related experience in general clerical, accounting training, or combination of education/experience.
  2. Work well with others from diverse backgrounds
  3. Ability to communicate fluently in English
  4. Criminal history clearance (background check and HB 2062).

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policy(ies) and procedures.
  1. Works independently, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  1. General Ledger Bookkeeping - including input and review of journal entries, reconciling district in/out accounts, preparing and submitting periodic and annual reports for grants and contracts, and monthly and year-end procedures for accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  2. Assists with annual external audit.
  3. Accounts Payable - including maintaining physical and electronic filing, review of coding for district purchases, submission of requisitions and purchase orders.
  4. Reconciles purchase orders, packing slips, invoices and P-card purchases; and prepares check runs for approval and payment.
  5. Accounts Receivable - including receiving and recording payments, preparing bank deposits, reconciling meal program payments, and invoicing for facility rental, services and reimbursements.
  6. Monitors associated student body (ASB) fund accounts, assists with audit preparation, and reconciles accounts as assigned.
  7. Provides support for school purchasing, especially during peak volume periods.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 258 day work agreement at 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week). Based on current Confidential Work Agreement, salary ($25.95 to $34.03 per hour) with excellent benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance and Oregon state retirement. Paid time off includes one sick day per month worked, three personal days and five vacation days, pro-rated per school year. Benefit information can be found at www.seasidek12.or.us/hr/benefits.
