JOB TITLE: Elementary Educational Assistant – Special Education, 33.75 hours per week (6.75 hours/day average) 0.8438 FTE

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Classroom Teachers

JOB SUMMARY: To assist classroom teachers with individual and/or small group learning in special and general education classrooms and provide student supervision as needed. Staff will be asked to support students with a variety of needs, which could include academic, social, functional and behavioral supports. A primary focus is the establishment of a positive learning environment that promotes a high level of achievement and inclusion for all students. Full job description available upon request.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Criminal history clearance (background check and HB 2062).
• Ability to meet Highly Qualified Paraprofessional standards (2 years of college, Associates degree or pass WorkKeys skills test).
• Basic computer/technology skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prior experience working in a school setting.
• Spanish language skills.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Works a school year calendar, approximately 186 days at FTE 0.8438. Based on current OSEA salary schedule and negotiated agreement, salary (code 8 – starting $16.77/hr. – $19.37/hr.) with excellent benefits including Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance and Oregon state retirement.
